Tropical plant that 'sleeps' when you touch it - Video

Plants are sensitive to light. sound and even touch. Check out this "Sensitive plant" (Mimosa pudica L.) is a creeping annual or perennial herb often grown for its curiosity value: the compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched, re-opening within minutes. YouTube has the video of the Mimosa pudica - native to Brazil, but is now a pantropical weed. Other names are TickleMe Plant, Humble plant, Shame plant, Sleeping grass, Prayer Plant, Touch-me-not, Makahiya (Philippines, meaning "shy"), Mori Vivi (West Indies), mate-loi (false death) (Tonga). The Chinese name for this plant translates to "shyness grass". The species epithet, pudica, is Latin for "bashful" or "shrinking". Because of its curious nature and easy procreation. Its Sinhala name is Nidikumba, where 'nidi' means 'sleep'. View this video:

Oh I love the TickleMe Plant everyone is talking about the website www.ticklemeplant.com
I cant wait till I get my kit in the mail from the TickleMe Plant people.
I first saw this when I was little I think they called it the sensitive plant but TickleMe Plant is so much cooler plus now it can be grown as a house plant. I love my tickleme plant!

I grow these each year will my kids.Its their favorite plant. Dont forget tickleme plants have cotton candy like flowers!
