West Virginia is seriously considering a bill to teach school children how to handle a gun and hunt safely its proponent hopes will increase state revenues from hunting licenses, a state lawmaker said Thursday.
The courses would be offered in secondary schools, from the eighth to 10th grade (13-16 years of age).
Allegedly proponents claim the kids will learn gun safety and learn the proper use of fire arms.
Lawmakers who support this bill cite that hunting is a cultural and economic concern.
The state allows children 10 years and up to apply for a hunting licenses.

Because the education system should always be a tool for increasing state revenue. Another politician scumbag fiasco.
i don't think the rifle in the above photo is your average hunting rifle.
I was taught the proper use and handling of weapons by my father (hunter and NRA gun safety instructor) starting at age 7. Do you have any idea how many of my friends got slapped up side of the head by ME for handling firearms improperly in my presence after I was grown? I'd say 90 percent of them. If you want to hunt, or have a weapon to protect your family and property, you need to know how to handle it without killing yourself, or someone else. I think it's an excellent idea, but because it's controversial, it needs to be elective. The parents should sign a statement that it's okay to teach their children this very useful knowledge. Some of the parents will freak out about it (like the first poster here) thinking it will make their children do something stupid. It won't. It will KEEP them from doing something stupid. Like waving it around with an apartment full of friends trying to look cool. NOT COOL! Even unloaded, you never behave that way.
