I agree with the above poster. The circle of life was created for a reason, and it's wrong to break that circle. Peta is just taking advantage again, and trying to force their humanizing of animals on someone in a cage that can't escape them. What good would a vegetarian diet be for a killer? Oh, that's right, it's not about the diet, it's about the killing of his girlfriend and her suffering. They think that if he eats meat, he's causing more suffering. Trust me PETA, as a hunter, the animals I've taken down don't suffer. I kill em quick, then proudly serve them to my friends and family.
'If God, or mother nature, had not wanted animals to eat other animals, then there would be no carnivores on the planet.'
'God': then by the same reason, he would not have created viruses, bacteria, parasites etc. and we are all happy to act against them.
'carnivores' - why bring this into the debate. We are not carnivores and we should not be deriving our morality from them. If something is OK for a lion to do, are you then saying its OK for us?
'Nature': Nature does not 'want' anything. If you wish to directly derive morality from what nature gives life the ability to do, then, we should have no problem with murder, rape and theft.
Your objections to PETA's stance on this issue may be sincere but the reasons you give do not justify the your feelings.
The way we raise and slaughter animals now IS NOT natural. Chickens, for example, that we get eggs from live in a cage in a space smaller than a piece of paper, usually in dark windowless sheds their entire life. Male chicks that are born are thrown into dumpsters to slowly die or ground alive in a meat grinder. Chickens are scalded alive when being slaughtered. Animals were not put on earth to be treated this way! BTW - The chicken we buy from the grocery store is so 'dangerous' because instead of being air dried before packaging, it is soaked in feces water so that it weighs more when sold. I wish more people would actually go read about all this instead of defending and supporting it.
God': then by the same reason, he would not have created viruses, bacteria, parasites etc. and we are all happy to act against them.
- Perhaps those things are meant to stabilize the planet, no? Just like animals eating animals. Not a very good argument.
'carnivores' - why bring this into the debate. We are not carnivores and we should not be deriving our morality from them. If something is OK for a lion to do, are you then saying its OK for us?
- Sure. I eat the flesh of animals like an animal. Perhaps it is not my “Main” diet, but I consume it every day. You know what I mean. Don’t be a dork. And I have been called a pig on more than one occasion and have “humped many a leg. Eating meat and morality is your guilt trip, not mine.
'Nature': Nature does not 'want' anything. If you wish to directly derive morality from what nature gives life the ability to do, then, we should have no problem with murder, rape and theft.
- Nature does want things. If left alone, she is wonderful. And meat-eating animals play an important role in it all. Again, you are confused.
Peta strikes again! I needed a good laugh. And to all of you religious posters, RELAX! Animals eat other animals, and we're animals. If you chose not to do so, go for it. But don't go forcing your beliefs on others like peta is trying to do. And those who believe in hunting and meat eating, you go for it too. Just don't try to stop veggies from being veggies. It's a very personal choice, and nobody should be able to make that choice for others. Now, back to my turkey and havarti salad....
I think that Hunters are despicable people, who enjoy sadistic butchering of animals. How anyone can shoot poor defenseless animals and call it sport, is beyond me. Then, hang their heads on the wall, or skin them for rugs! Bunch of crazy murderers!
You must not realize how half of what you consume or wear is made and probably don't want to know how it derives from animals.
So stop being such a hypocrite.
'But all that ended when I received a pamphlet from PETA stating that one should not take their children fishing because 'hooking a fish and reeling it in causes much anxiety and stress on the fish'.'
**And what's wrong with that? What crime have fish commited to be deserving of torture and death?
'Good grief. If God, or mother nature, had not wanted animals to eat other animals, then there would be no carnivores on the planet.'
**We are not carnivores. And we are different, we know right and wrong. Unlike carnivores we don't NEED flesh to survive. To choose to consume it anyways is to do so for PLEASURE and pleasure killing is murder. I guess if God or mother nature had not wanted animals to cannibalize there wouldn't be animals that eat their own species? So I guess you must think that cannibal is innocent too right? Since wild animals eat their own kind. They also kill and eat their young...do you support child abuse? They rape...do you support rape? Come on don't use what non-humans do as an excuse to do it too...we are supposed to be a CIVILIZED and COMPASSIONATE society.
' Trust me PETA, as a hunter, the animals I've taken down don't suffer.'
**But you did steal their lives away. So if I shoot a person in the back of the head so that he feels no pain and is not aware he is about to die, it's not wrong and I won't go to jail? What if I proudly serve the victims flesh to my friends and family?
'Animals eat other animals, and we're animals.'
**They also cannibalize, kill/eat/abandon their young, tresspass, steal, rape, and do many more things our society considers wrong. But that's the difference between non-humans and humans, we are supposed to be a civilized, caring society. If you do not want to be a part of it maybe you should get off the internet, find an isolated plate, and live off the grid in a cave like an uncivilized caveman.
'But don't go forcing your beliefs on others'
**And you aren't forcing your belief on others when you KILL and EAT them? At least PETA hasn't hurt or killed you at all. They only used WORDS!! Is it wrong to 'force' anti-child abuse beliefs on a man beating a child by stopping him? Or should we respect his 'personal choice' to beat up a kid? Hurting and killing others is NOT a personal choice to respect. As compassionate civilized people we have the RIGHT to try and stop people from harming others.
'You must not realize how half of what you consume or wear is made and probably don't want to know how it derives from animals.
So stop being such a hypocrite. '
**Are you against murdering humans? If so, you must not realize how ost of what you do/consumer indirectly kills people through pollution and destruction of environment or harms people through worker abuse. So stop being such a hypocrite.
Do you see your own hypocrisy? Do you see the fault in your logic? Unknowingly indirectly harming others is NOT the same as deliberate harm and killing. Driving cars makes people sick and kills people. Does that make it okay to run over someone on purpose? You may not know about the blood in some plywood, but everyone KNOWS meat is animal flesh and that animals must be directly murdered for it. THAT IS deliberate killing for unnecessary pleasure.
Sounds like your missing the beef!

PETA has gone too far.Jan 11th, 2008 - 19:08:56
I don't advocate animal abuse and have even made past donations to PETA. But all that ended when I received a pamphlet from PETA stating that one should not take their children fishing because 'hooking a fish and reeling it in causes much anxiety and stress on the fish'.
Good grief. If God, or mother nature, had not wanted animals to eat other animals, then there would be no carnivores on the planet.
