Cow falls 60 metres onto hood of car
Nov 7, 2007, 10:20 GMT
San Francisco - A US couple received an unexpected surprise when a cow fell 60 metres off a cliff and landed on the hood of the minivan they were driving in Washington state, reported local media Tuesday.
'It was just 'bam' - you just saw something come down and hit the hood,' driver Charles Everson told the Wenatchee World newspaper.
The Eversons, who were not injured, didn't at first believe that a 270 kilogram cow had landed on their car. Their van windshield was broken and the hood collapsed from the force of the animal hitting the vehicle.
'Inches different and the couple in this car would have been killed,' said Arnold Baker, local fire district chief.
The year-old heifer, which had been reported missing by its owner, was euthanized at the scene of Sunday's accident near Manson, Washington.
