Explosion after man uses vacuum cleaner to empty car fuel tank

Berlin - An attempt by a young Berliner to empty his car tank with a vacuum cleaner led to an explosion Saturday, police reported.
The 25-year-old man had incorrectly filled his tank with diesel at a fuel station, police said.
On perceiving his mistake, the man attempted to siphon out the fuel. When this failed, he grabbed a vacuum cleaner on hand for customers to clean out their cars.
An explosion ensued, and a 23-year-old bystander suffered burn and graze wounds. The culprit was uninjured in the incident, which occurred at around 2 a.m.
Police said they were investigating laying a charge of causing a fire and negligent injury.

'stupid' is such an unkind word. I would classify them as being somewhat slow. Not idiots per say just slow at most things. Whatever happened to the German guy that ate someone via web?
Undoubtedly, there is a safer way to accomplish this. However, the important thing to learn is that it was a bystander, not the German who was hurt. Such ingenuity.
how did it explode? Diesl needs compression not a spark and is very stable unless under pressure to ignite. Perhaps the tank was not empty of petrol.
idiot who uses an electrical vacuum cleaner to suck up gasolien based liquids but some people half to learn verry intense lessons the extreamly tough way but i give no simpathy in his case i hope he died
