Kitties!!! EPA/ALLERCA / HANDOUT
PIERSON, FL-Feline lovers can overdo it a bit, as witnessed by a woman in Volusia County, Florida.
The puss-lover has three months to get rid of nearly 170 cats living with her at home after her request to keep them was denied, according to a Florida affiliate Local 6 News report.
Cat aficionado Kristy Grant has been taking care of the kitties at her 10-acre home in Pierson.
Neighbors have complained that the animals are attacking squirrels and killing birds.
City Council members unanimously denied Grant's request to have her home declared an animal sanctuary.
Grant can keep only four cats, according to residential zoning laws, the report said.
"I'm looking for a good attorney who is willing to help me out that loves animals and can win this for me," Grant said. "I'm not getting rid of my cats. I'm in the middle of nowhere. If I can't take care of cats here, where can you?"
Local 6 News reported that Grant knows every one of the cats by name. She said she may move and take all of the cats with her.

Those 10 acres are enough to hold her cats. She has a right to keep them. Tjey could be horses, donkeys or chickens. Then watch the uppidy neighbors complain of the smell! It could be a great sanctuary if all were spayed and neutered. God put us in charge of taking care of His creatures on this earth. So, what do we do? We starve them, beat them, run over them, shoot them and abuse them. Who, then, are the real animals in this world?
Ten acres isnt that large. I am from Tennessee, and I know people that own over 125 and dont have that many animals. I love all animals, dont get me wrong. But 170 cats would require more care than one woman on ten acres can give. They have to kill the birds, it's their instinct, so I dont consider that an issue. If each cat had its own home it could still kill birds. I hardly believe a cat will attack a squirrel more than one time. Squirrels are very wild, and a little vicious when cornered or attacked. Anyhow, she needs a little more room and help and things could be good for everyone, including the cats.
rich, how can she afford to feed and properly vet all those cats? Even if they are spayed and neutered, outdoor cats are at risk for all kinds of attacks by raccoons, dogs, owls, hawks, ect unless her property is completely fenced in. I don't see how the cats are being properly cared for if allowed to roam outside.
