Sylvia Plath, the poet who has been far more famous in her death than in her life, will once again have her semi auto-biographical novel The Bell Jar made onto the big screen. Except now Julia Stiles will play Esther Greenwood, the character based on Plath herself. The novel became well known in the U.S. in the 1970s after news of Plath’s suicide and ‘troubled life’ escaped. Variety reports that Julia Stiles will join Forest Whitaker in the psychological thriller 'A Little Trip to Heaven.' The movie has a budget of $12 million and is scheduled to start filming in August. Locations include Iceland and Minnesota.
It revolves around a deceased scam artist who has left a million dollar life insurance policy. His sister, her husband and the insurance investigator all get involved in the ensuing debacle.
