Sylvia Plath, the poet who has been far more famous in her death than in her life, will once again have her semi auto-biographical novel The Bell Jar made onto the big screen. Except now Julia Stiles will play Esther Greenwood, the character based on Plath herself. The novel became well known in the U.S. in the 1970s after news of Plath’s suicide and ‘troubled life’ escaped. At the age of 30 in 1963 she gassed herself in an oven, leaving behind two small children and a batch of great poetry. ... more

Variety reports that Julia Stiles will join Forest Whitaker in the psychological thriller 'A Little Trip to Heaven.' The movie has a budget of $12 million and is scheduled to start filming in August. Locations include Iceland and Minnesota.

It revolves around a deceased scam artist who has left a million dollar life insurance policy. His sister, her husband and the insurance investigator all get involved in the ensuing debacle.

Oleanna Closes Today

The David Mamet play, Oleanna, starring Julia Stiles and Aaron Eckhart will give its last performance today at The Garrick Theatre. The play which opened on April 22nd tells the story of a college Professor who agrees to meet a struggling student behind closed doors, their conversation yields only mutual misunderstanding and an unexpected charge. As their antipathy turns ugly, it destroys lives, derails careers and ultimately leads to a cataclysmic event that no one could have expected.
