The Saturdays Biography

Summary

"The Saturdays" are a five-piece British and Irish girl group. The band consists of Frankie Sandford, Rochelle Wiseman, Mollie King, Una Healy and Vanessa White. Sandford and Wiseman formerly performed with S Club 8.

Subsequent career

2007-present: 'Chasing Lights'

The group are signed to Fascination Records, a division of Polydor, and were first seen supporting Girls Aloud on their Tangled Up Tour in 2008.

Their début single, 'If This Is Love', was released in shops on 28th July 2008 and reached number 8 in the Official UK Top 40 on August 3rd, 2008.

The second single to be released by The Saturdays was called 'Up' on the 13th October 2008 and reached number 5 in the Official UK Top 40.

The band have confirmed that their 3rd single will be 'Work, Work', and is to be released in January 2009.

In a recent interview for British entertainment website PopSugarUK, the group said they will be releasing a third single before the end of the year which had sparked rumours that they would release this year's Children In Need single.

Members

Una Healy

Una was born 10 October 1981, making her the oldest in the group. Originally from Thurles Co. Tipperary Ireland, she is an award winning singer/songwriter/guitarist having won the Glinsk Song Contest in both 2004 and 2006 with her original compositions.

Mollie King

Mollie was born 4 June 1987. Originally from Surrey, King was previously in Fallen Angelz, a group which reached the boot-camp stage of The X Factor, and also auditioned as a solo act in the competition.She attended Surbiton High School, where her talents were able to blossom under the guidance of her close friend, Louise Troen.

Frankie was born 14 January 1989. Born in Essex, Sandford was previously in pop group S Club 8 alongside Rochelle Wiseman.

Rochelle was born 21 March 1989. Originally from Romford, Essex and of Black and Caucasian descent. Wiseman was previously in pop group S Club 8 and a presenter on the CBBC TV programme Smile.

Vanessa White

Born 19 August 1989, Vanessa is the youngest in the group. Originally from Somerset, and of Filipino and Black descent, White studied at Sylvia Young Theatre School in London.
