He has won world titles from Junior Lightweight to Middleweight.
Oscar was the only USA boxer to win a gold medal at the 1992 Olympics. His father, Joel, Sr., fought as a lightweight in Mexico.

Oscar has five children with four different women. His current wife is Millie Corretjer, a 33-year-old Puerto Rican pop singer. Their wedding was a secret ceremony held at "El Invernino" in San Juan, Puerto Rico, attended by close family and friends. To ensure privacy, the couple was covered by a large sheet, according to a local newspaper. her wedding ring reportedly weighs 9 karats and cost nearly $1 million dollars.
In 2007, Forbes Magazine estimated his earnings for the year at $43 million.
