"Jessica Lynn Sutta" (born May 15, 1982) is an American dancer, singer, and actress. She was a member of the successful pop/R&B group the Pussycat Dolls. Jessica left the group in January 2010. She is the first Doll to announce her next move, and she said she's ready to pursue a solo career. She is currently recording her debut solo album expected to be released in 2010.

Biography

Sutta was born in Miami, Florida, of Russian-Polish Jewish father and Irish Catholic mother. She grew up with two older brothers, Billy and Kevin. She started dance classes at the age of three. She went to the New World School of the Arts at age fourteen to study dance. She tore the ACL on both knees and switched to theater studies, before finally returning to dance. She joined the NBA's cheerleading squad Miami Heat in 1999 and became captain in 2001.

Her hair was originally black, until she changed her to brunette, but after Bachar's departure, she dyed her hair red. In May 2009, Jessica broke a rib and was sent home from the Pussycat Dolls' tour. She was homeless due to tour commitments. However, a 'girlfriend' took her in to temporarily live with her. Pussycat Dolls

She came to the attention of choreographer Robin Antin, who cast her with the Pussycat Dolls in 2002.

Jessica sang co-lead along with Carmit Bachar and Ashley Roberts in the 'Stickwitu' single b-side, 'Santa Baby'. After the departure of Bachar from the group, Sutta took the parts that Bachar used to sing, and co-leads with Melody.

Sutta also recorded a solo song, 'If I Was A Man', for the Deluxe Edition of the Dolls' second studio album "Doll Domination". The song is produced by Smidi, Ron Fair, and Stefanie Ridel. In the Pussycat Dolls Doll Domination 2009 revision album Sutta sang lead vocals on Top of the World, Love The Way You Love Me and Painted Windows. In recent Pussycat Dolls tour most of Bachar's part were given to Sutta, especially in I Don't Need A Man, Beep, Stickwitu and Buttons.

With her pale skin and dark hair, Sutta's persona echoes a Betty Page pin-up. As with all the other Dolls, Sutta is a salaried employee of Interscope Records.

From the moment Jessica joined The Pussycat Dolls, she says: 'This is where I always wanted to be. I thought The Pussycat Dolls were genius. I am so blessed to be a part of this group.'

On January 29, 2010 Sutta revealed she had been ousted from the group. In an interview with "E!Online" Sutta revealed that she broke a rib whilst on tour with the group and groups management failed to provide her with any accommodation, so the almost 'homeless? singer had to crash on a friends couch as she recovered from a broken rib. She further went on to reveal that whilst the group toured with Britney Spears the other dolls had to undergo regular drugs tests but Scherzinger was expect, further highlighting preferential treatment for Scherzinger. The true extent of Scherzinger's involvement in the management of PCD was also revealed to be much greater than reported early; Scherzinger controls the amount of camera time each of the dolls receives in their music videos. Sutta told MTV News that she has the blessing of the Dolls to step out on her own. 'They were really supportive of me. It was a big decision, but it was the best decision.' She also said she can be her own woman. 'I think I was always in the shadows of Nicole, so I think it's the chance for me to come out.' On January 30, 2010 Sutta clarified her comments with "ABC News" regarding her leaving the Pussycat Dolls, stating that Scherzinger is like a sister and she has love for her. Sutta also said that the hip injury obtained during the tour made her realise she didn't want to be with PCD any more as she did not think it was her future. She said she is recording and writing her debut album and said that fans could expect music very soon.

In an interview with ABC News, she was quoted as saying: I was in the Pussycat Dolls for about seven years, and deep down in my heart I know I'll always be a Pussycat doll, and it was one of the most incredible experiences, I traveled the world, I got to develop as an artist and I'm grateful for every single one of them, truly.

Solo career

Sutta is featured on a track named 'Make It Last', which was released in May 2007 and reached number one on "Billboard magazine" 's Hot Dance Club Play charts for September 22, 2007. .

Dave Audé told About.com in an interview. 'Jessica was one of the Pussycat Dolls that didn't get a lot of the spotlight in the actual Pussycat band, but she just loves club music. So I've been doing a few songs here and there. I recorded the vocals for her song with Paul Van Dyk's 'White Lies.' She sang on my song which wasn't a full vocal song but it had some, it was more of a club track and fortunately went to number one.?

She is also featured on Paul van Dyk's July 2007 single 'White Lies'. Paul Van Dyk said: 'I had a lot of fun working with Jessica. Her lascivious voice and sexy attitude reflects the theme of the single perfectly.' Jessica spoke about working with Paul Van Dyk:

The track has been a success on the American dance charts, peaking at #3 on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart in August 2007, and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Singles Sales. 'White Lies' appeared on the album "In Between".

In 2008, Jessica recorded the 80's influenced, electro track 'In Your Heart'.

Solo album

In late 2009 Jessica Sutta announce on her Twitter account that she has been working on solo song with urban Dutch producer Tearce Keaz who was responsible for Eva Simons hit 'Silly Boy?.

In January 2010 she confirmed for "Starpulse.com" she's starting work on an album of solo material. 'This year is going to be really busy for me because I'm starting my album so I'm not going to have a lot of time, I'm writing and I'm working with up and coming producers.' The sound should reflect some of the same influences as the Pussycat Dolls music, but more focused to Sutta's own inspirations.

Later, she told MTV News that she will try her hand at another aspect of the musical process: songwriting. 'I'm really excited about my solo project,' she said. 'I've been working with my friend ... and I've actually been writing. I didn't get a chance to write on the Dolls albums, and I just found out I can write, which is really cool. So my music is really upbeat. You can put it in your ears and drift away which is really fun. And I'm showing my alter ego, which I'm really excited about, which is kind of a theme to my album, which is really rad.'

Media appearances

Sutta plays the woman who was abused by her husband in Ana Johnsson's music video for 'Don't Cry for Pain'. As a freelance dancer, she appeared in music videos for Will Smith ('Miami'), Baby Bash ('Suga Suga'), Craig David ('Spanish'), Beyonce ('Crazy In Love') and Gloria Estefan ('Don't Let This Moment End'), among others.

As an actress, she was featured as a pill-poppin' Gothic teenager in the drama series 'Ocean Ave' shot in South Florida. She has also appeared in the movies "From Justin to Kelly" and "Bully". In 2007, she appeared on an episode of the game show "Identity" in disguise as a Pussycat Doll.

In 2007, Sutta appeared in a series of video ads on Myspace for Unilever's Axe body spray, as part of their 'Bom Chicka Wah Wah' campaign. The ads took the form of instructional dance videos, with Sutta displaying 'sexy' dance moves.
