"Dax Randall Shepard" (January 2, 1975) is an American actor.

Shepard was born in Milford, Michigan, and started as a car buff at Walled Lake Central High School. Later, he attended The Groundlings School and Groundlings Sunday Company. He also attended UCLA to receive a degree in anthropology.

Dax's acting career started with his film debut in "Hairshirt" (1998). After performing in a chain of smaller television and film roles, he joined the "Punk'd" team. His exposure through "Punk'd" led to film roles in movies such as "Employee of the Month", "Cheaper by the Dozen", "Without a Paddle", "Zathura", and "Idiocracy".

On the October 3, 2006 edition of "Jimmy Kimmel Live", Shepard declared that he is a Libertarian and opposed the War in Iraq.
