"Alexander Johan Hjalmar Skarsgård" (; born August 25, 1976, in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish actor and director. He is the son of Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård and the brother of actor Gustaf Skarsgård (born 1980), Sam Skarsgård (born 1982), Bill Skarsgård (born 1990), Eija Skarsgård (born 1992), Valter Skarsgård (born 1995) and Ossian Skarsgård (born 2009)
Career
Skarsgård has acted in several Swedish TV series and movies. In 2003 he was nominated for a "Guldbagge" for male supporting role in the movie "Hundtricket - The Movie".
Since 2005, with his performances in "Revelations" and "The Last Drop" he has taken part in international productions. In 2007 he played one of the main characters in the American miniseries "Generation Kill". As of 2008, he is currently a part of the ensemble cast of HBO's "True Blood", a TV series from "Six Feet Under" creator, Alan Ball. Skarsgård plays the Role of Eric Northman, a 1000 year old Viking vampire, and owner of Fangtasia - the fictional vampire bar in Charlaine Harris' "Sookie Stackhouse" vampire series. He reprised his role for the second season, which began airing June 2009.
In 2009, Skarsgård appeared in the music video for pop singer Lady Gaga's Paparazzi. He also has two upcoming films currently in post-production, "Metropia" and "Beyond the Pole". He is scheduled to star in the upcoming thriller, Straw Dogs, along with Kate Bosworth and James Marsden. It is a remake of the 1971 movie. Filming is set to begin in August 2009.
