Frequent “Sons of Anarchy” director and producer Paris Barclay will executive produce and direct the FX pilot for “Sons” showrunner Kurt Sutter’s highly-anticipated new series “The Bastard Executioner,” it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, the Presidents of Original Programing for FX Networks and FX Productions.
The Bastard Executioner hails from Sutter, who will serve as an Executive Producer along with Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo.
Sutter is set to write the script for the pilot of The Bastard Executioner, with production set to take place in Wales in early 2015. The project is being produced by Fox 21 and FX Productions (FXP).
The Bastard Executioner is a period drama that tells the story of a warrior knight in King Edward II’s charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.
Barclay currently serves as an Executive Producer on, and has directed 15 episodes of, FX’s Sons of Anarchy. His final directorial effort on the show will be the penultimate episode, which will air on Tuesday, December 2nd.
