Open Season on The Lion King Director Roger Allers

The Lion King director Roger Allers has signed up to Sony Pictures Animation’s movie Open Season where he will co-direct with Jull Culton. Steve Bencich and Ron J. Friedman have joined the team as writers.

Open Season, which will feature the voices of Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher, is a buddy comedy about a happily domesticated 900-pound grizzly bear named Boog (Lawrence), who has his comfortable world turned upside down when he meets a fast-talking wild mule deer named Elliot (Kutcher).

The film is based on cartoonist Steve Moore In the Bleachers.

Writers Lisa Addario and Joey Syracuse have also been hired to write Surf’s Up, the studio’s second other animation which you can read more about here.
