Boy banding can take a lot out of you. Tours, constant photo shoots, deadlines in the music studio, it all adds up. Then there’s the millions of adoring fans and constant meetings with business managers on how to manage you money, it’s very hard.
Zayn Malik, described by some in the media as “the bad boy one” is an English born singer of Pakistani descent and a practicing Muslim who left the band’s tour due to “stress,” says the band’s rep. Malik “has been signed off with stress.” The news is on the heels of a photo of the 22-year-old holding hands with a girl other than his fiancée Perrie Edwards of Little Mix. He responded to the rumors on Twitter Wednesday night by declaring his love for Edwards.

Malik’s moments of defection are noted in the press. In November, he did not make an appearance on the Today show due to stomach issues.
His bandmates said that he had a stomach bug, but US Weekly reported that Matt Lauer pushed about rumors of substance abuse.
Malik lashed out on Twitter. “I’m really angry and upset by what was said on the Today show,” he wrote at the time. “I was really ill at the weekend, that’s why I couldn’t fly to America.”
