Nine Inch Nails splits from record label

In a message to fans, Nine Inch Nails singer Trent Reznor described the band as a “free agent” following a split from its record label.

Reznor posted a message on Monday stating: “I’ve waited a LONG time to be able to make the following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is a totally free agent, free of any recording contract with any label.”

He also said: “I have been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate.”

Reznor did not give fans any hints on what to expect from Nince Inch Nails, but stated the band was looking forward to “exciting times.” He also said he would keep fans informed on the band’s next project.
