From Monsters and Critics.com US News Mayor Eddie Perez "lives the American Dream everyday," according to his biography. The popular Mayor of Hartford, Connecticut has made history by being the City’s first Latino Mayor. He has a healthy sense of humor and appreciation of beauty, too. Recently the city hosted Cinco de Mayo celebrations and featured the Los Angeles sensation "Hot Tamales" comedy revue presented by co-creator Kiki Melendez - who partnered with Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives) to create a successful, ongoing comedy platform for a diverse array of Hispanic talent in America. The show is normally anchored at the World Famous Comedy Store, owned by Mitzi and Pauly Shore on the Sunset Strip of Los Angeles. The Tamales featured comics San Diego radio star Monique Marvez, whose Showtime "Latin Divas" comedy special aired the same night as her live Bushnell performance, Rachel Fienstien, Sara Contreras, Ruperto Vanderpool, Kira Soltanovich, Julie Goldman,Valentino, and Roz - with Mike Viero emceeing. Mayor Perez gave Melendez a key to the city of Hartford and a Proclamation for the Hot Tamales Live at The Bushnell that Cinco De Mayo, 2007 was "Kiki Melendez Day in Hartford Connecticut."
