From Monsters and Critics.com US News Washington - Former US president Gerald Ford was admitted to hospital Tuesday evening for 'testing and evaluation,' media reports said. Ford, 93, was being treated at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, though no further details were given of his condition, CNN reported, citing a statement from Ford's Colorado office. The oldest living former president, Ford took over as chief executive after the resignation of Richard Nixon in August 1974 over the infamous Watergate scandal. Ford led the country for two and a half years, losing his 1976 re- election bid to Democrat Jimmy Carter. © 2006 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur© Copyright 2007 by monstersandcritics.com.
