It is so nice to know that these two Bozos, who each has asked the American public to give back to the community, can freely spend the American taxpayer's dollars at free will , while most Americans are scrimping to make ends meet. I am personally appalled at the cavalier attitude of this clown who calls himself the President. If this is leading by example, then the American public is screwed, but I already believe that those who have been silent are already figuring this out. How about he public asking for an accounting of this little foray, and then ask that he remit every single penny of what this actually cost. He wasn't elected to be entertained at the public's expense, so how about staying home and doing the job he was elected to do ?

He did more in 100 days than Bush in eight years.bush was constantly on a holiday or golfing .Surely you remember that ,don't you ?But let me guess, you're a GOP poster ? Hence the double standards .
double standards and double posts. Who are they trying to convince, themselves?
Indeed ,you're right ,and I 'd like to ask Mac a question:Who do you think is more apt to work for the benefit of the citizens;Bush and Cheney with their background of profiteering from the wars they stoked or Obama who has a background of community organizer, putting the interests of the people before his own.A simple question that contains the answer already. Time to turn the page on the GO,they only offer incoherent arguments at best, paranoia at worst.
Still, this non-story indicates that it must have been one of the dearest theatre trips of all time. American workers who've lost their jobs or are on short hours must be rivetted to their seats in admiration!
Don't get me wrong. I was delighted when you got rid of Dubya, and even moreso when you replaced him with a president who seemed to have a brain: But all the indications now are that very little has really changed.
'Change you can believe in'??
'Change you can't discern' would be nearer the mark!
I guess you misunderstand in the original story truebrit .Air force one is not always a 747 .Any aircraft carrying the president of the USA is labelled AF1.You must have thought Obama took a jumbo from Washington to NYC.Not so.
don't make an issue here as sp4 is paying the whole bill so they say.
sp4 a proud Democrate indeed.
Tonny, I never assumed he used the Jumbo for so short a hop. He still Flew, Helicoptered, then Motorcaded his way to a theatre date while MILLIONS of American citizens are on the breadline or face cuts in working hours! You obviously never saw Macaffrey's posts on that very subject some time ago on the feature side of the page.
Yet I may be wrong. Perhaps he didn't use a plane at all? To listen to the BBC and yourself, Tonny, one would think that the man can fly unaided anyway.
Perhaps he just floated gently into the air surrounded by a glowing nimbus of glory and the celestial music of an adoring heavenly host, and only resorted to a chopper and stretch limo when his supporting angels wings got a bit fagged out from carrying the holy one?
I guess you must enjoy being on the same rung as SP4? Stupid does attract stupid.
'Still, this non-story indicates that it must have been one of the dearest theatre trips of all time. American workers who've lost their jobs or are on short hours must be rivetted to their seats in admiration!'
It may be a 'non-story' to you because of your citizenship in a country that still has Kings and Queens (ha), but that said if it is a non-story why would someone of your intelligence even comment on it? Us Americans who've 'lost our jobs' are much-much-much more 'riveted' in our seats now we have someone that is working to fix our country than the last 8 years of failed policy!
'Don't get me wrong. I was delighted when you got rid of Dubya, and even moreso when you replaced him with a president who seemed to have a brain: But all the indications now are that very little has really changed.'
We are willing to give it time and since he is not your President please STFU---it is none of your business. We voted him, we pay the taxes that he spends, and we are willing to give him time. If he does not do his job, in 4 years we will get rid of him. He is not 'King of America', like you have and continue to pour your money in that hole.
''Change you can believe in'??'
Yes we can, please STFU and go back to your dreary, rainy existence.
''Change you can't discern' would be nearer the mark!'
Again, thank god you have absolutely no say so in what happens. It is none of your business, just be glad we got rid of the Village Idiot and his crew. You have so many terrorists living in your country, he was about to start carpet bombing you and 'your kind'.
Oh Hell! The flying Rabbi returns from the potty portals of Gaiacomm, with another pustulent puerile protracted post. I hope this one will not be reposted as often as the idiotic 'Obama as next president' one was.
My dear Prince of Hur,
Stick one of your TESLA antennae up your arse, shove a Bagel in your trap, climb back into your quadriga, and bugger off!
Truebrit does make a valid point. In response to an intelligent viewpoint '@' brings out the Harmmee, the Hairfarce, the Duh-reenes and the rust bucket tin pot navy to lay waste to the infidel. Now that is diplomacy, tact and realistic engagement. More like 'something has a life - Kill it!' Perhaps '@' should STFU until he is old enough to go to school and develop a modicum of his ant-sized brain. Children should be seen, and not heard.
This non story belongs on the Hollywood Star comings and goings page, not the news section.
My thanks, sir, for your support.
Now, to '@'
Dear sir,
Am I, perchance, addressing the “induhvidual” referred to by Fudd as “Monkey Boy?” I am sorry that you are evidently unemployable, but millions of your countrymen are not, though they too are without work at present. You state;
“I guess you must enjoy being on the same rung as SP4? Stupid does attract stupid.”
I can only bow to your superior experience! You are surely one of the stupid people who jump down his throat with responses every bit as inane as his crass provocations, every time he posts. On a now nearly dead feature I have recently had occasion to reply to one of SPfart’s little attempts at the Parthian shot. I asked him to construe the following:
“Mutato nomine de te fabula narratur”
I now extend to you the same invitation, and for the same reason.
As for this article, it should be a 'non-story' to anyone with a brain larger than a pea. I commented on it for light amusement. Tonny, who I notice you don’t tell to STFU although he too is a European, commented on it because he enjoys contradicting me; and I re-commented because I had foreseen that he would do so and provide me with an opportunity to make the “heavenly host” joke.
See how easy this all is! No? Try chewing some gum and attempt to walk around the room at the same time then. How many things did you bump into? Only four! Well done, Einstein!
To continue;
“Kings and Queens (ha)”
Why the (ha)? The UK is a Constitutional Monarchy, a democracy with as responsive and mature a system of government as your own. Elizabeth, second of that name, by God’s grace, of Great Britain and of her other Realms across the seas, Queen, is my Dread Sovereign Lord, and I would advise you to be careful, my wee Columbian hayseed.
You have a republic, a res publica, and your President is also Head of State, as well as of Government: I respect the office, but have you invariably been happy with the incumbents who have represented your country to the world over the years? They are de facto “Kings of America” who are accorded their near monarchical powers in four year dollops.
As for the cost of either office, if you include upkeep of palaces like the White House and all the other paraphernalia of state, a contemporary president costs as much as a monarch anyway. With one difference! At the beginning of each reign, a British Monarch, in return for civil list provision surrenders private income from the Crown Estates to the Exchequer. Last time I looked this income was about eight times what we pay The Queen from government revenues.
I have nothing against Obama.... for now. He’s new in the job and will need time to make a difference. Yet again, as I’ve commented elsewhere, unthinking partisanship is indicative of a stupid and juvenile outlook. Whether from GOP bigots like SP; or puling Democrap kiddy-widdys like you, who uses the paper thin excuse of my nationality to say I should not post here merely because you dislike the content.
Anyway, pathetic, ill-informed, blinkered, party-politically fixated credulous cretins provide some light relief from us Brits “dreary, rainy existence.” I have always assumed that SP uses the suffix 4 as a descriptive of his mental age. Henceforth I shall refer to your good self as SP-three-and-a-half.
“The audacity of hope?”
In your case as well as SP’s, “The audacity of dope” would be more apposite.
Dear sir,
'Am I, perchance, addressing the “induhvidual” referred to by Fudd as “Monkey Boy?” I am sorry that you are evidently unemployable, but millions of your countrymen are not, though they too are without work at present. You state;'
I believe the “Idiots Stick SP4” refers to everyone as 'Monkey Boy'. His vocabulary and ADD requires such inane references. As for 'unemployable', I sir do have a job and am doing fine, I was referring to millions of my countrymen who and been forced into these ranks by 8 years of uneducated, conservative claptrap.
'I can only bow to your superior experience! You are surely one of the stupid people who jump down his throat with responses every bit as inane as his crass provocations, every time he posts. On a now nearly dead feature I have recently had occasion to reply to one of SPfart’s little attempts at the Parthian shot. I asked him to construe the following:'
(I am sure you are good at bowing, after all you are British). Thank you but people who put up with idiots who try and re-write history (no matter how inane the effort), need to be addressed each and every time. SP4 is one of the rednecks in this country that support these right wing neocons, in spite of the facts that show they sell them down the road continually...
“Mutato nomine de te fabula narratur”
Not about me, but lots of friends.
'As for this article, it should be a 'non-story' to anyone with a brain larger than a pea. I commented on it for light amusement. Tonny only commented after you stuck your foot in your mouth. British humor I guess, but still tasteless.
'See how easy this all is! No? Try chewing some gum and attempt to walk around the room at the same time then. How many things did you bump into? Only four! Well done, Einstein!'
Thanks again, Mr. Einstein is one of my favorites. More British humor I guess with the rest of the comments???
'Why the (ha)? The UK is a Constitutional Monarchy, a democracy with as responsive and mature a system of government as your own. Elizabeth, second of that name, by God’s grace, of Great Britain and of her other Realms across the seas, Queen, is my Dread Sovereign Lord, and I would advise you to be careful, my wee Columbian hayseed.'
Ha? Ha because you support a Monarchy that actually has no use except to attend inane public events and 'knight' someone once in a while. While you have millions living in poverty, these Billionaires still ride around in their Rolls, fly around in their private jets, sail around in their million dollar yachts and you ask why the Ha? God you are more stupid than I thought.
'You have a republic, a res publica, and your President is also Head of State, as well as of Government: I respect the office, but have you invariably been happy with the incumbents who have represented your country to the world over the years? They are de facto “Kings of America” who are accorded their near monarchical powers in four year dollops.'
Nice try, but just like most of your pompous posts, claptrap.
'As for the cost of either office, if you include upkeep of palaces like the White House and all the other paraphernalia of state, a contemporary president costs as much as a monarch anyway. With one difference! At the beginning of each reign, a British Monarch, in return for civil list provision surrenders private income from the Crown Estates to the Exchequer. Again with the claptrap. One more time, ours are voted in and out of office. Your Monarchy is just like the Ever-ready Bunny--keeps going and going. Continually building their wealth and doing nothing---and you support it. Please don't lecture anyone on politics---Kings and Queens should have been gone long ago.
'I have nothing against Obama.... for now. He’s new in the job and will need time to make a difference. No, but you try and jab here and there. The point is (again), he has been in office less than 5 months, was handed the biggest mess in American political history and you (and lots of other idiots) jab here and there even with no reason. Give it a chance, but again you are not an American so your opinion means absolutely nothing. I did not say you 'should not post here', I was just taking an exception to your post---your country is in the tank and if I was taking shots at your officials (which there is a lot to take a shot at) I would expect you to stand up for your country.
'Anyway, pathetic, ill-informed, blinkered, party-politically fixated credulous cretins provide some light relief from us Brits “dreary, rainy existence.” I have always assumed that SP uses the suffix 4 as a descriptive of his mental age. Anyway Wanker, I am not ill-informed, blinkered or Party-politically fixated, Just an American that thinks comments by a Whig need to be addressed---especially by a citizen of a country that has lost ALL of their domain, influence and power in the last 100 years, had to be bailed out of trouble by the US more than once and to this day must keep its nose up the ass of the US to have any influence anywhere.
'In your case as well as SP’s, “The audacity of dope” would be more apposite.'
Coming from a citizen of a country that lost all hope long ago, I believe this is the same---no consequence.
What a disappointment!
SPthree-and-a-half opens his stupid gob again but keeps his mind firmly shut. What a pathetic effort. The only amusing bits are the ones you put in from my own previous comment, you cut and paste clown! Then you have the stupidity to have a weak, p*ssy, juvenile little dig at my country as well as at me. You obviously have no style, class, or originality in you. Stick to throwing your simple tripe at SP. You both live in the same Wonderland anyway. You and SP remind me of Tweedledum and Tweedledee, or in your cases, TweedleDUMB and TweedleDUMBER!
You can't even manage a proper rant, just a tantrum. Go and get your mammy to kiss baby better, put him over her shoulder, and burp him. Did the nasty man rattle your cot bars then! Boo Hoo comes the rsponse!
You only reveal your ludicrous limitations when you try to attack me.
So the President took a night off? Big deal. In terms of thought processes, SP4 has never actually been present.
It took Bush several days to personally get to the Katrina survivors.
Some History - Bush had taken 250 days off as of August 2003. That's 27% of his presidency spent on vacation. Although to be fair, much of this time is classified as a 'working vacation.'
Obama does a long workday - Bush basically stopped functioning by 5:00 PM
More details on past Presidents.
ask.yahoo.com/20031001.html
Bush as of 2008:
www.drummajorinstitute.org/injusticeindex.php
Number of days during his presidency that Bush spent on vacation at either Camp David or his Texas ranch, as of August 2008 (including partial days off): 916
(Number of days he was not a puppet - zero)
Total number of years in Bush’s presidency, if these vacation days are subtracted: 5.5
Proportion of U.S. workers who have no paid vacations or holidays at work: 1 in 4
Date on which President Bush received a presidential daily briefing entitled “Bin Laden determined to strike in U.S.” while in the midst of a month-long vacation: 8/6/2001
Date on which a FEMA report warned that Hurricane Katrina “could greatly overtop levees and protective systems” in New Orleans, displacing more than a million residents, a warning which came when the President was again on a month-long vacatio: 8/27/2005
Date of a second warning, from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, that Katrina would “likely lead to severe flooding and/or levee breaching”: 8/29/2005
Date that President Bush told ABC “I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees.”: 9/1/2005
Date on which George W. Bush announced “I believe we’re overextended… if we don't stop extending our troops all around the world and nation building missions, then we're going to have a serious problem coming down the road”: 10/3/2000
(Last time Cheney did not lie - never)
www.politico.com/news/stories/0109/17373.html
Bush famously arrived at the Oval Office by dawn, left by 6 p.m. and went to bed by 10 p.m. Dinners out are as rare as a lunar eclipse.
Obama, by contrast, stays up late. He holds conference calls with senior staff as late as 11 p.m., and often reads and writes past midnight. Ahead of the Democratic National Convention, he spent consecutive nights holed up in a Chicago hotel room, working on his speech until 2 a.m.
And in the 10 days alone, Obama stopped by a Senate cocktail party, dined out with foreign policy types, and made a visit Saturday to Ben’s Chili Bowl, a Washington institution and pillar in the African-American community. He stayed out until 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at a dinner with conservative columnists.
Like a car in neutral (or occasionally reverse), SP4 is incapable of moving forwards.
NEOCRETIN!
The GOP is making a total ass of themselves over this issue, like many other things that solid Conservatives in Congress are complaining about.
Pathetic. If they had solutions, this namby-pamby crap would not be happening.
Rush likely spent more time in rehab that Obama has out of the White House on personal time.
SP4 never been here? Yes he has! in the form of his equally stupid, crass, and semi-literate Democrap mirror image, SP3 (I've re-assessed his mental age downwards by six months. The way he's going at present, it'll be SP egg before long).
As for Bush, did he ever start functioning? And I thought the best thing he could possibly do for America was go on a long holiday anyway.
The jury's still out on Obama. It has to be for anyone with a modicum of objectivity. Anyone with a brain that can be viewed without using a microscope will see that I did not make a personal attack on the man. I merely sought to comment on the unworthy partisanship of some liberal organisations and individuals who seem to project the uncritical view that the Sun shines out of his arse. Whatever he acually does in fact!
That is rank hypocrisy.
I stand by the point that a jet, copter, and motorcade trip to a theatre date in times of economic hardship will not look too good to many ordinary Americans who are feeling the pinch.
RE: 'I stand by the point that a jet, copter, and motorcade trip to a theatre date in times of economic hardship will not look too good to many ordinary Americans who are feeling the pinch.'
===============
Some people's opinions no longer derive from their own thoughts, but out of reading something. This is a shame - we have an American President who both READS and THINKS; and the public has generally mastered only the first. The press likes a headline, and blows minor crap out of proportion.
WHO THE HELL CARES WHAT NON-THINKERS RECITE???
Obama has studiously avoided getting into arguments with megalomaniacs like Cheney and Limbaugh - matter of fact, placing Obama's speech opposite Cheney's resulted in 'split-screen' type coverage - so, a logistical error.
The American people are just pissed off, and until things get better, they will stay that way. The Brits asre probably more pissed off with payments for moat cleanings for Tories, and the rest of that mess.
The trick is to put aside feelings and to deal with the present; never mind the future. Cheney referenced 9/11 20 times, and then said that we need to look forward. This phony lies for a living, and will say anything. Since he seems to be leading the GOP, that makes them cohorts in deception. A few in Congress are speaking up; apparently putting re-election chances at risk in order to be seen as 'thinking in public'.
The GOP is slowly digging its own grave - they are losing all of the key increasing demographics (the young, foreign-born, and the educated). There once was a party called the 'Know-Nothings', and they seem to have taken the mantle.
When you have time, look at the online transcript today of Fareed Zakaria's GPS, with Kissinger explaining China and Russia. He has visited with Putin 18-20 times, and won the 1973 Nobel Peace Prize for helping to establish a ceasefire and US withdrawal from Vietnam. Thast deteriorated later on, but every success must be actively maintained.
Bush's failure to do that in Afghanistan has led to today's problems with the Taliban, and likely Somalia could fall as well. That's where the pirates are based, for those living in the past.
