I don't quite understand your ethnic terminology. Are 'Hispanics' people of Spanish or part Spanish descent, or simply Spanish 1st language speakers?

Tru Limey...Hispanic is one of those terms...well...mexicans cooked up so we would not keep calling them Mexicans. True, we have other peoples of hispanic descent from central America, but we always just called them Mexicans too. It's like African-Americans, a name someone likes to be called as opposed to just plain-old black.

The words Spain, Spanish, and Spaniard are of the same etymology as Hispanic, ultimately.
