Leave it up to the party that totally failed the last 8 years to think they have a better way. Kind of like following someone who jumps off the bridge don't you think? Good old Grand Obstruction Party.
'with not a single Republican voting for it'
It's not that they didn't want free money. Rather, they wanted the free money to go to their cronies, not the dem's cronies.
Obvious.

The GOP can brighten any room just by leaving it.
Any party looking for a drug-addicted overpaid radio-jock egomaniac to be their standard-bearer deserves no respect.
Now Palin is looking to attend an exclusive dinner for some face-time with Obama.

Can you spell 'desperate for attention'? What she wants is a book deal or a talk show, where she can make a further public display of incompetence.
Once upon a time in America, we had the 'know-nothing' party.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Know_Nothing
'The Know Nothing movement was a nativist American political movement of the 1840s and 1850s. It was empowered by popular fears that the country was being overwhelmed by Irish Catholic immigrants, who were often regarded as hostile to U.S. values and controlled by the Pope in Rome. Mainly active from 1854 to 1856, it strove to curb immigration and naturalization, though its efforts were met with little success.'
Now, we have the 'run up the deficit over 8 years and then do-nothing' party.
..amazing...and eleven dems against....not even that guy from dist 5 here in oregon, who is a republican democrat for sure...wow...I'm not sure when the last time this happened was...Carter maybe?
This is a good time to ask Ron Paul why he did not vote for it...
What a pork barrel bill too. Every sperm-soaked fantasy and hardly any stimulus. Some of the works projects have four-year start-ups. The rest is giveaways to every masturbatory cause that the authors could think of. I'm not sure this is what we really voted for.
Not a single Gooper vote. That is really saying something. That Limbaugh thing really charged up the G.O.P. I wonder what the Senate will do?
Dear Mrs. America,
Not enough appropriations going to the muslim killing machines for you? Many businesses require five years of investment before seeing results (if they are lucky). The pentagon can ramp up money spending in a matter of seconds. Sure, the typical U.S. citizen has an attention span of 20 seconds and five years is incomprehensible to them and certainly the congress can't keep track of money for more than about 20 seconds once dispensed, but vaporizing it in the muslim killing machines isn't that great either.
At least they are wasting your money and taking away your children's future for flower power and not jesus-bomb power.
SP4: Not a single GOP vote...Jan 29th, 2009 - 17:48:48
..amazing...and eleven dems against...
'..amazing...and eleven dems against...'
Amazing. Absolutely, astoundingly amazing. SP can't get the facts right, even when they sit right in front of him, right in the second sentence. The article states: 'and 12 Democrats joining the nay vote.'
I guess SP's drug abuse has realy rotted his brain. I wonder if there is anything 'right' about him, aside from his discredited, blind-minded, right wing-nut, neocon attitude.
SP4: Not a single GOP vote...
=========
These are the idiots who have no idea of the economic problems they've created (with the help of the Dem's from time to time). Come the next vote to get this done, some of the GOP'ers will break away. Some of the Blue Dog Democrats, likewise. There's no alternative, when you have a REAL President with both massive popularity AND a brain running the show, and actually publicly working with the other side.
In case you forgot, lamebrain, the GOP also voted against the first TARP bill, which was when McCain stupidly thought that he needed to suspend his campaign and go back to Washington, as though the rest of his party could not THINK without their medullas in sync with his. Remember how that turned out?
The government has not explained the details of the plan, and the public is nervous - but there's no other plan. Anyone who understands the Laffer Curve notion understands the problem with tax cuts at current rates:
finance.yahoo.com/expert/article/economist/4065
'But here's the problem when we take Laffer's theory and try to apply it in the U.S.: We don't have a 99 percent marginal tax rate. Or 70 percent. Or even 50 percent. We start with low marginal tax rates relative to the rest of the developed world. (Yes, I understand that it may not feel that way after the check you wrote last month.) So cutting the tax rate from 36 percent to 33 percent is not going to give you the same kind of economic jolt as slashing a tax rate from 90 percent to 50 percent. There's no huge black market to be shut down, no big supply of skilled workers to be lured back into the labor market, and so on.' The Laffer Curve offers the false promise that we can cut taxes without making any sacrifice on the spending side, and that's simply not true. It's the economic equivalent of arguing that you can lose weight by eating more.
========
The GOP policy is like a pharmacist who has ONE pill covering all diseases. Our economy does not have a headache - it is septic. We are connected to all other economies, and need a unified effort to overcome the situation. Americans are now suddenly thrifty, and massive tax cuts simply reduce future revenues, and the rate of economic growth (even in good times) cannot overcome what you've given up.
Read about Jarvis-Gann sometime.
Very good post. Very good, indeed. I see only one small downside to it, however: 'Read about Jarvis-Gann sometime.'
Reading is one thing. Comprehending is another. SP sees 12, but comprehends it as 11. As in 11 Democrats voted against the bill, when the story actually says 12. No,I am afraid that what you suggest is far beyond the capability of SP's drug addled brain.
Yea, like we should follow the party of 8 years of failure. The Grand Obstruction Party has failed completely, and we should listen to them and their minions?
When I climb Everest I should pick the guide that has lost 10 people or the guide that has lost none? I can only hope Rush and Ann pick the first.
Heck, I'll accept 12...it was 11 on the radio this morning...
Good news though...not a single republican. Wow, what a slam...I guess they told Oabam to suck their d--ks, eh?
One question: if Obama cannot get a single GOP vote, how will he EVER get them to quit listening to Limbaugh? Be sure to get back to us on that...
RE: Good news though...not a single republican.
=============
Ever watch Star Trek and the Borg? They did exactly what they were told. People don't want the Borg in Congress. That's why the GOP lost, having Bush in effect the Borg Queen (and Cheney as Rasputin; but that's a different metaphor).
The hard-ass GOP voters who make Rush wealthy, and support the rabid nutcases at Fox, have not realized that the REST of the country voted for Obama - at least those not 'worried' about a black President with Hussein for a middle name. Remember that idiot woman whom McCain had to convince that Obama was not a Muslim, on camera?
The idiots have run the country for long enough, with people like Cheney as puppeteer-in-chief, an office not found in the Constitution. Admiration of Sarah Palin was a good indicator of where this election was headed - the glorification of the idiot, as against the country's need for intelligent leadership and discourse.
Obama gets to rebuild your car AFTER you've wrecked it. This is what idiots like SP4 stand for - creating a mess, and then blaming the next guy for not fixing it in 5 days.
SP4, go crap in your own back yard, not the White House lawn.
Gobblygook!
..the NYT says 11 dems.
Take a look at how Wall Street reacted to this terrific piece of legislation.
'..the NYT says 11 dems'
Be that as it may, sh*t for brains, this story, if you had bothered to read it, stated 12. As you did not attribute your figures to an outside source you are in error. As this thread is not about what the NYT says, what you have to say is in complete error, as per usual, f--kbrain.
...THAT is what the article said (12)...true enough....too bad you're still mis-informed. Honestly, I cannot recall the last time I actually heard a moron defend the fact that he was right, while acknowledging he was wrong.
Damn, it's like the Marx Brothers or something!
...but like I'm fond of saying, that still does not make me wrong.
Republicans...no wonder they've labeled us as 'right'!
LOL
