Do The Math! The Cost Of Obama's Proposed $1,000 Per Family From Windfall Profits Tax!

Over the past three days Senator Obama has taken pandering to a new level, offering what I consider to be a 'bribe' by telling American families that his Windfall Profits Tax would be used to provide a $1,000 per family rebate. Despite the historical failure of such policies, somehow they continue to draw appeal from those who don't care about the cost such programs.

So how much would Obama's $1,000 per family cost the oil companies??

Consider this, according to the Obama Campaigns statistics regarding his proposed working family tax credit, the credit would affect around 150 million US workers or about 80 million families. As such, you can assume that his $1,000 per family or $500 per individual 'Energy Rebate' would also affect the same 150 million workers. So now lets do the math (in terms even Obamabots can understand):

A $1 rebate would cost $150 million
A $10 rebate would cost $1.5 Billion
A $100 Rebate Would Cost $15 Billion
A $500 REBATE WOULD COST $75 BILLION

Now, according to Obama this rebate would be provided through his, Pelosi, and Reid's Windfall Profits Tax. Sound Great, Right?

How Much Did Oil Companies Make in 2007?

Consolidated Net Profits Of Big 5: $120 Billion

Hmm...Now you're may have to get a calculator out to figure the exact percentage, but how exactly is Obama going to pay for his $75 Billion Rebate??

This is just the incentive oil companies need??

So Which One Is It? Do we impose a 62.5% tax on Oil company profits, in which Institutional and individual investors dump the stocks; relegate them to penny status; bankrupt the industry; and cause an insta-depression? Or... Does the government pick up the tab, causing a record budget deficit to balloon further and destroying the promises of government investments in alternative energy?

Either way, this is what occurs when pandering trumps sensibility.

How about we just end the stupid worthless war, cut the war budget in half and then we would have plenty to go around. And by the stupid, $500 does not mean much to you, but to millions it means that they can eat for another month.

Your arrogance is showing through, but it does not shine as much as your stupidity.

'How about we just end the stupid worthless war, cut the war budget in half and then we would have plenty to go around'

Because we were attacked. We are in a 2 front war against the monsters who attacked us. Surrendering to them is cowardly, stupid and it will invite more attacks. They don't want to sing kumbayah with you and barry the messiah, they want you subjugated or dead.

'And by the stupid, $500 does not mean much to you, '

And by the stupid to you too. $500 dollars has to come from somewhere. As I posted Obamas math doesn't add up again. If he were to put a 70% windfall profit tax on oil companies he would be put out of business. That would simply stop the US economy. So that means one of 3 things: 1) Obama is a complete moron who is willing to destroy the economy. 2) Obama will have to borrow more money in order to give you the $500 dollars which will add more to the national debt and wont do a thing to help bring down the cost of oil. Indeed since our national debt is making our dollar worthless it will drive the cost of oil up because oil is traded in dollars. Or; 3) Obama is lying and promising you money that he doesn't intend to pay you in order to buy your vote.

'but to millions it means that they can eat for another month.'

The USA is a country where most of the lower income adults are clinically obese. The point is that $500 has to come from somewhere. If they would earn it and be allowed to keep more of what they earn they would probably have more pride in themselves then someone who is waiting for the government to hand them a check for money that it has stolen from their children's future.

'Your arrogance is showing through, but it does not shine as much as your stupidity.'

Changing the rules in the middle of the game to take money from companies is a great way of driving those companies out of the country. Taking their profits away is a great way of destroying an industry that is essential to the economy of the country. Borrowing money from the next generation is irresponsible and selfish and expecting the government to be your sugar daddy with other peoples money makes you a parasite.

By moaning about the costs of a 'two front war', you have provided the very reason why we should not have attacked Iraq after 9/11. The mission to take down the 9/11 perpetrators was MISSION NOT ACCOMPLISHED, as we diverted our efforts to a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11.
Why don't you tell us next that osama bin laden and 9/11 doesn't matter?
Since according to your play book everthing changed after 9/11, and going after the original real 9/11 terrorists is irrelevent to the situation.

Did we fight al Qaeda in Iraq? The truth is we all but broke them there.

'Why don't you tell us next that osama bin laden and 9/11 doesn't matter?'

Sure he does, Where is he? Tell us and we will go get him.

'Since according to your play book everthing[sic] changed after 9/11'

It did for a lot of people. I am sure it seemed like nothing changed for you because American idol was still on the TV.

'and going after the original real 9/11 terrorists is irrelevent[sic] to the situation.'

We are going after them, we also went to a place where they would come after us. Regardless, even if that were not the case, does that still make it OK to effectively socialize the oil industry? Thereby killing the oil industry? Isn't that rather stupid? Wouldn't that wreck the economy?

Betty;

Of course 'that's the mind of a Republican' as they could care less about anything but their own agenda, no matter how devoid of reality it is. They have no idea how to care for someone as most of them are spoiled rotten brats that no matter how wrong their side has been/is all they care about is their hatred of anything different. Less than 90 days until that failed mindset is gone.

'Of course 'that's the mind of a Republican' as they could care less about anything but their own agenda, no matter how devoid of reality it is. '

Psychological projection and I can prove it. Anyone who wishes to read the 'Obama to give acceptance speech in large stadium' thread will see that you wish to have your own way, consequences be damned and that you don't particularly care if Obama is a liar who isn't qualified to be president.

'They have no idea how to care for someone as most of them are spoiled rotten brats '

Again with the psychological projection. You are the only one here who had everything handed to her from daddy. You don't care if Obama wants to confiscate the fruits of other peoples labor because you don't know what it's like to actually go earn anything. Regardless, it isn't 'caring' for someone to make them dependent on a nanny state. It is keeping them perpetual infants... Maybe that's why you advocate it, you want company.

'no matter how wrong their side has been'

And Jimmy Carter/ Lyndon Johnson were so 'right'. See, Obamas cr*p has all been done to death and it has always been a disaster.

'll they care about is their hatred of anything different'

You have demonstrated your 'liberal' hatred' of anything different wonderfully, that makes you a hypocrite as well. (Something else we already established)

'Less than 90 days until that failed mindset is gone.'

We shall see. Other shoes are going to drop.
