A bit excessiveApr 23rd, 2008 - 17:56:37

A couple of dumb kids who wanted to joy ride - how much was the car worth - in comparison to locking both these kids up for 25 years.

Let's see prison time cost about $40,000 per year x 25 years = $1,000,000

Only in America!!

No one else could afford it!

Wouldn't it be cheaper to turn them into productive citizens?

To: A bit excessive - 'A couple of dumb kids'? The guy was 36! And they did beat up someone. However, I wouldn't have let them off but I wouldn't have given them such long sentences either..

If someone beat me up and stole my car - They would have gotten a few years in Jail. The Mayor is a public servant and he does have insurance on his car - so why such a stiff sentence? The fact is the public servant has moved up the food chain and is now the master - we have become servants. Alas - he is just punishing one of the slaves. So let's not get too testy about it. After all what is 10 or 20 years. Let's not forget also this happened in New York. I lived there and they are tyrants so this is what you get when you elect these people! My prayers are for the kids arrested -

way too excessive, even though there was an assault involved.
