Strong earthquake shakes north-east Nevada

Washington - A strong earthquake shook the western US state of Nevada early Thursday morning, the US Geological Society in Washington said. The 6.3 magnitude quake at 6:16 am (1416 GMT) had its epicentre in the north-east corner of the state 17 kilometres from the small town of Wells and 244 kilometres west of Salt Lake City, Utah, the USGS said. Collapsed buildings were reported in Wells, which has a population of 1,330, the Salt Lake City Tribune reported online. Tremors could be felt in Salt Lake City, the newspaper said.

Okay, this is starting to bug me. We've had quakes in all three major rift valleys and now Nevada. I'm surprised Sumatra has anything left standing given the number of quakes that they have been having.

Is this above normal activity? I know the noise to signal ratio is bad.
