'Four people have been charged. Three suspects are in custody: Russell Defreitas, a Guyana national, Kareem Ibrihim and Abdul Kadir. Suspect Abdul Nur is still at large.'Gee... I wonder if this had anything to do with the religion of peace...
If you want an actual 'chilling plot', actual 'terrorism', actual murder, look at what America has done over the last few years.
I am sick of these 'thwarted' terrorist plots that are no doubt just more propaganda to justify why the US is compelled to go around the world bombing poor people and stealing their resources.
Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine by proxy, Somalia.
Are the millions dead in these countries non-people?
Great, let the security lines get even longer and the inspections even more invasive. Looking forward to it...
'Defreitas is reportedly a former cargo worker at JFK who allegedly began to plot attacking the US last July or August...'
'CNN says the coalition of counter-terrorism law enforcement officials have been following the plot for a little less than one year; initiated in January of 2006.'
How could the 'counter-terrorism law enforcement officials' start following a plot in January 2006 which didn't even come to fruition until 'last July or August' [2006]??
What is wrong with the timeline here? If this is an error in reporting, it should be corrected swiftly. Or when was this reported? A little less than one year would be last July or August, not January of 2006.
Correct me if I'm wrong, or correct the story.
Don't confuse a few ignorant extremists with the religion of peace. They give us a bad name, but that is no excuse to generalize.
Maybe Islam needs a new passage in their Koran: And Allah brought forth a great load of explosives, bullets, and dead bodies, and said to Mohammed: 'Stop killing my people and my creation with your hate! I forbid it!'
'I am sick of these 'thwarted' terrorist plots that are no doubt just more propaganda to justify why the US is compelled to go around the world bombing poor people and stealing their resources.'
That's rational, you are sick of terrorist plots being thwarted... Spare us your arrested adolescent Marxist diatribes about 'resources'. We are at war with them because they have declared war on us. They have declared war on us because their religion tells them to.
It is time to take the gloves off before we have another 9/11
'Maybe Islam needs a new passage in their Koran: '
Some of their old passages:
Qur'an:9:5 'Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.'
Qur'an:9:29 'Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission.'
Qur'an:9:88 'The Messenger and those who believe with him, strive hard and fight with their wealth and lives in Allah's Cause.'
Qur'an:9:14 'Fight them and Allah will punish them by your hands, lay them low, and cover them with shame. He will help you over them.'
Qur'an:9:38 'Believers, what is the matter with you, that when you are asked to go forth and fight in Allah's Cause you cling to the earth? Do you prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? Unless you go forth, He will afflict and punish you with a painful doom, and put others in your place.'
Qur'an:9:123 'Fight the unbelievers around you, and let them find harshness in you.'
Qur'an 5:51 'Believers, take not Jews and Christians for your friends. They are but friends and protectors to each other.'
Qur'an 9:29 'Fight those who do not believe in Allah or the Last Day, who do not forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, or acknowledge the Religion of Truth (Islam), (even if they are) People of the Book (Christians and Jews), until they pay the Jizyah tribute tax in submission, feeling themselves subdued and brought low.' [Another translation says:] 'pay the tax in acknowledgment of our superiority and their state of subjection.'
Qur'an 5:17 '...Say (Muhammad): ‘Who then has the least power against Allah, if His will were to destroy Christ, the Messiah, the son of Mary, his mother, and everyone else on earth?'
Qur'an 5:35 'Believers, fear Allah and seek the way to approach Him, striving hard, fighting Jihad with all your might in His Cause that you may be successful. As for the disbelievers [previously defined as Christians], if they had everything on earth, two times over, to give as ransom for the penalty of the Day of Doom, it would never be accepted from them. Theirs will be a painful torment. They will desire to get out of the fire, but they shall not be released from it. They shall have an everlasting torture.'
Qur'an 5:49 'And this (He commands): Judge between them by what Allah has revealed and follow not their [Christian] desires, but beware of them lest they beguile you, seducing you away from any of that which Allah hath sent down to you. And if they turn you away [from being Muslims], be assured that for their crime it is Allah's purpose to smite them. Truly most men are rebellious.'
Qur'an 5:73 'They are surely disbelievers who blaspheme and say: ‘God is one of three in the Trinity for there is no Ilah (God) except One, Allah. If they desist not from saying this (blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall them - the disbelievers will suffer a painful doom.'
Qur'an 5:77 'Say (Muhammad): ‘People of the Book, do not overstep the bounds in your religion, or follow the people who erred and led many astray. Cursed are the unbelievers among the Children of Israel by David and Jesus.... They do vile things, allying themselves with the infidels so that Allah's indignation is upon them and in torment they will suffer for all eternity.' [Another translation reads:] 'Curses were pronounced on the unbelievers, the Children of Israel who rejected Islam, by the tongues of David and of Jesus because they disobeyed and rebelled.'
Qur'an 5:80 'You see many of them allying themselves with the unbelieving infidels. Vile indeed are their souls. Allah's wrath is on them, and in torment will they abide.'
Qur'an 5:82 'You will find the Jews and disbelievers [defined as Christians in 5:73] the most vehement in hatred for the Muslims.'
Qur'an 5:117 'I only said what You (Allah) commanded me to say: Worship Allah, my lord and your Lord. I was a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them but you took me up. (This is a great admonition and warning to the Christians of the whole world.)'.
It goes on and on like this....
Well, the alleged terrorists are not from the Middle East. It's likely they were incensed by our actions in the Middle East and chose to rebel by conspiring to commit acts of terrorism. Wholesale punishment will just raise more furore. The US can continue its 'War of Terror' but if it does not do something POSITIVE for the international Muslim community as a whole, it will continue to face backlash. Apologizing for helping to depose the democratic ruler Mossadegh of Iran in the '50s would be a good start.
Sorry, should have been 'War on Terror.' I watched Borat last night, and that just came out. My bad...
'Well, the alleged terrorists are not from the Middle East.'
Well some are, but regardless, the problem is islamism, not people from the middle east.
'It's likely they were incensed by our actions in the Middle East and chose to rebel by conspiring to commit acts of terrorism.'
' It's likely they were incensed by our actions' Firstly read the quotes from the koran and secondly it does not matter what they were 'incensed' by, blowing up large portions of queens and killing thousands of people is not an acceptable way of 'venting' in any kind of civilization. Please stop making excuses for would be murderers and criminals.
'The US can continue its 'War of Terror' but if it does not do something POSITIVE for the international Muslim community as a whole, it will continue to face backlash.'
The 'international Muslim community' needs to do something POSITIVE for humanity, like renouncing terrorism, that would be a very POSITIVE development. As it is this 'backlash' has hit India and the Sudan and Algeria and Afghanistan and New York and Pakistan and Israel and Russia and Chechnya and the Philippines and Indonesia and Nigeria and England and Thailand and Spain and Egypt and Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia and Ingushetia and Dagestan and Turkey and Kabardino-Balkaria and Morocco and Yemen and Lebanon and France and Uzbekistan and Gaza and Tunisia and Kosovo and Bosnia and Mauritania and Kenya and Eritrea and Syria and Somalia and California and Argentina and Kuwait and Virginia and Ethiopia and Iran and Jordan and United Arab Emirates and Louisiana and Texas and Tanzania and Germany and Australia and Pennsylvania and Belgium and Denmark and East Timor and Qatar and Maryland and Tajikistan and the Netherlands and Scotland and Chad and Canada and China and elsewhere...
So obviously, obviously, obviously... The problem is not exclusive to the USA. It is only limited to wherever islamist and anyone of a different religion come into contact. In other words this is a war on the infidel that predated the war on terror that you like to put in quotes.
'Apologizing for helping to depose the democratic ruler Mossadegh of Iran in the '50s would be a good start.'
Don't you think that excuse for violence and savagery has worn a bit thin by now? It is 2007. Since then Iran has taken Americans as hostages and killed hundreds our people... Where is the apology?
'Sorry, should have been 'War on Terror.' I watched Borat last night, and that just came out.'
Turn off the Futurama and Borat and wake up to what humanity is up against.
Well, the War on Terror would be way more effective if the US, say ... oh, I dunno, actually tried getting Osama bin Laden. Now Iraq is an incubator for terrorism. The reason there haven't been so many terrorist plots blowing up US citizens in America is because the terrorists are blowing up US soldiers in Iraq. And I do read the news -- the US is looked upon as an occupying force in the middle east. If the British occupied the United States, what would we do? Use guerrilla tactics to get them out? Why yes, we would ... and we HAVE. Of course, their plight is different because we have dehumanized them.
Now look in the long run -- if we keep fighting them, they will just keep increasing in number. If we do something positive, however, some will actually realize that we are not as bad as the mullahs and madrassas have made the US out to be. There's actually kids in Iraq who think this way, but that's only a small positive in the wake of a large negative action. If we could get all of them to think that way, it would actually end terrorism. The sad truth is that killing terrorists creates more terrorists. So, all I'm saying is we need more creative foreign policy instead of just cleaning up the messes that have arisen from poor choices in the past.
And why don't you wake up and watch the Macneil-Lehrer NewsHour, the BBC, and 60 Minutes -- you might realize that the US is, for example, refusing to treat Iraq veterans who are in so much pain, all they can do is curl up in a ball on a gurney.
How are buried lines full of liquid jet fuel going to explode? They are presumably buried, full of fuel, and not in contact with enough oxygen to cause such a catastrophe.
you spelled skeptic wrong so how would you know what will blow up or what will not.
Is this just a criminal plot started with one man or are Middle East terrorists behind this??. It will be wise to find out before everyone goes crazy. There are a lot of criminals in all walks of life who hatch up these bizzare acts, and most of them are done by a single mind.
That would be the British spelling.
Here is a quote from a New York Times article:
But a spokesman for Buckeye Partners, the company that operates the pipeline, said that an explosion at a fuel-tank farm at the airport would not ignite the pipeline.
“It’s not like the pipeline is a stick of dynamite and the whole thing would blow up,” said Roy Haase, the Buckeye spokesman. “Pipelines don’t blow up.”
Sorry to ruin your hysteria.
Our intentions in Iraq have been good, but apperantly we under-estimated just how immature the Iraqi people are. Does anyone else see that it is not natural to set off bombs in marketplaces for the specific purpose of killing as many civillians as possible. I'm sick of people blaming the US for the actions of murderous thugs.
It's pretty clear that our law enforcement agencies have had a pretty soft snap so far. I am not impressed by the terrorists at all, and I am even less impressed by the news coverage of this thwarted plot.
REPLY TO 'SICK OF IT'
your ignorance puts the foulest taste in my mouth. i suppose they need to allow another terrorist attack to occur in our home country for you to believe that these 'islamic fundamentalists' and the countries that harbor and fund them are truly a threat to us. but then again, no you wouldn't. you thrive on hating the country that has given you the right to practice your beligerent freedom of speech, and allows you without penalty to have so many opportunities and freedoms that you take for granted. you're like a piggish child who had runs all over the parent that thought it should let you be free to make your own decisions and be spoon fed everything and allowed to say and behave as you chose fit. and you spit in its face. So if you can't appreciate this country for all it has done for the entire world, the gracious amount of money it funds to the animal called the UN that stabs us in the back at every opportunity then i only have one thing to say to you, you ignorant slime.
GET OUT...
@ZombieJesus
'Well, the War on Terror would be way more effective if the US, say ... oh, I dunno, actually tried getting Osama bin Laden. '
We tried, the little cowardly she dog ran away and hid. Remember? The whole Afghanistan thing? Ran away and sent others to die? Ringing any bells here?
'Now Iraq is an incubator for terrorism. '
These islamists didn't come from Iraq.
'The reason there haven't been so many terrorist plots blowing up US citizens in America is because the terrorists are blowing up US soldiers in Iraq. '
Give the lady a cigar, that is EXACTLY why we are in Iraq. They are blowing up each other and anything that gets in the way as well.
'If the British occupied the United States, what would we do? Use guerrilla tactics to get them out?'
They are slowly occupying the USA as the 'multiculturalists' continue to drag down the UK and they look for a place to escape to. Regardless, we were minding our own business over here when they blew up the World trade center the first time, we tried to ignore them when they blew up our embassy's in Kenya, We hid in our happy place when our soldiers were dragged through the street in Mogadishu, We hoped they would go away when they blew up the Cole, We ignored countless murders and acts of mindless violence directed at us until they hijacked aircraft full of people and flew them into buildings full of people. You are trying to put the cart before the horse in order to come up with a lame excuse for their savagery. Why is that? Is it ok to slaughter people if you think you might have a grievance? They do it every day all over the world.
'Why yes, we would ... and we HAVE. '
What is this 'We' Sh!t? You were buisy watching Borat, remember? There are other people out there doing your fighting for you.
'Now look in the long run -- if we keep fighting them, they will just keep increasing in number. If we do something positive, however, some will actually realize that we are not as bad as the mullahs and madrassas have made the US out to be.'
That is unbelievably naive. Child like actually. Look at what they raise their children to believe:

Islamism is not a religon, it is a political philosophy masquerading as a religon. Like Nazism with God rolled up in to it. The idea that if we just be nice with them is beyond infantile. It is like saying that the Nazis would have been nice folks if we would have only remembered to send them all birthday cakes. Why don't you go hug a suicide bomber? Go sing kumbaya with someone who wants to saw your head off.... If you are the wrong religion they want to kill you or make you convert. They want power over you. Why is that so hard for you to understand?
'The sad truth is that killing terrorists creates more terrorists. '
Sooner or later they will run out. I live in New York and I saw them fly the aircraft into the towers. There are a whole bunch of them that very desperately need killing.
'So, all I'm saying is we need more creative foreign policy instead of just cleaning up the messes that have arisen from poor choices in the past.'
What I am saying is that you are unbelievably naive to think that we can make these monsters go away bu saying nice things to them. They see 'poor choices in the past' as going back 1500 years, they have a victim mentality that is purely divorced from reality. They are indoctrinated to hate and provided with countless nonsensical excuses to commit unspeakable crimes.
'And why don't you wake up and watch the Macneil-Lehrer , the BBC, and 60 Minutes'
I do. (The BBC is biased crap by the way.)
'- you might realize that the US is, for example, refusing to treat Iraq veterans who are in so much pain, all they can do is curl up in a ball on a gurney.'
I am a veteran and the best care I have gotten, bar none is at the VA. I would be very curious to see the report that says otherwise. Could it be that you are just seeing what you want to see? Please, grow up and stop making excuses for terrorists. There is no excuse for their savagery. None.
