Someone new is certainly needed to lead the country. As someone who can't vote but is profoundly affected by US politics, I think Senator Obama appears to be a refreshing change from the current crop of fear mongers.

Only in America would the Democrats be thought of as 'left of center.' There's about as much diversity in American politics as there was in Soviet politics.

I am not usually an early adopter when it comes to politics. I am; however, in favor of Obama's bid for the presidency. After reading his books, paying close attention to his responses to spontaneous questions, and evaluating him on his ability to analyze an issue and formulate reasonably sound first impressions on matters, I find Obama to be a candidate of great consideration.

When Colin Powell was on the cusp of running, it was unanimous across the country that he was a shoe-in to win the presidency. The issue of America being 'ready for a viable Black candidate' as something that is soon to be well past us. Our nation is muti-cultural, passionate and understanding of what it takes to remain the pinnacle of global strength. This man is a new breed of politician; one that could very well be our nexus into a new era of government focus on American needs--not self-serving ones.

I would love to hear more from Senator Obama on the real issues facing our nation and have a high degree of confidence that he could navigate our nation into a position of global respect and stability that we have flirted with losing for going on 8 years.

Hilary should step aside and support him.
There is too much disdain for HC. She would make a great VP (some may say she already has) or Sec. of Health

It would be fabolous to see Senator Barack Obama become the next President of the United States. A change of administration is definately needed as previous administrations have done little to enhance the image of the United States abroad.

The man may have what it takes. But senator you must not give in to this despotic behavior that has seemed to have plagued our nation into pressured silence and the overrunning of those with financial wealth, and racketeer influenced corruption techniques that seem to think they do not have to adhere to rule of law. Seal the borders, No amnesty for the illegal invasion forces, and do not become apathetic to their drive to destroy this nations very sovereignty. Good luck and god speed senator.

We must not give in to despotism, for if we do then our 'Constitution' will fail.

I have read Obama's latest book. It seems to me to exgress what all Americans want. However, It also seems to me that it is don't do as I have done as a Senator. Just do as I have written--THAT MEANS US!The Senate Has only worked three days a week--for $165 thousand dollars a year. And how many vacations do they take a year? No they are doing a lot of blab in all the news--But the reports are non-binding. It seems to me that Bush has a tongue in cheek attitude when his picture is included in the report. So the Congress is once more screwing the American public. The Democratics are continuing to do the same business at the same old stand!!! When is Congress going to act? The people voted for what they want and left no doubt. I think that it is time for Senator Obama to quit the same fence sitting and start remembering that he is here to do what the American people want, not the American people are here to only pay $165 thousand dollars a year for nothing but the shaft that they always get.I have always favored the Democratic party over the Money mad Republican Party. But this time, get on with it! What we now have is a dictatorship!!! If Obama does not show far better signs of doing the people's wishes, my vote will go to someone else, even if I have to vote for myself!!!

I agree with you Lorraine about how our senate operates. It is abyssmal. Watching Senators speak to no one on the floor etc. The question is, who is responsible for this? What is clear is that we will ahve about 108 changes of the guard due to term limits in (is it?) 2008? Maybe now is the time for the American people to make their voices heard again so that the new crop doesn't take root in the old soil!

Lorraine, in two years we can fully change the House of Representatives once again. What if we were to focus our reasoning efforts into looking at candidates other than democratic or republican that will represent and bring true our constitutional representative 'REPUBLIC' and end this demeanor of us being an imperialistic democracy under the guise and formation of a sinister and despotic One(new)world order?

In my previous post this is what Senator Obama must overcome and rise above to be duly elected 'BY THE PEOPLE' for president of these United States. The man 'CAN DO' it if so chooses to, and he must really 'HEAR THE PEOPLE' and serve them well so as not to ever put this great nation in 'DIRE JEOPARDY OF DESPOTISM' again.

And in my most recent previous post. Ideologues such as John McCain and Ted Kennedy are heading us down this very dangerous path. We are not a democracy John!!!!! We are in fact a constitutional representative 'REPUBLIC'. Take you and your One(new)World Order Initiative Legion(followers or corrupted despotic wanting wolves in sheeps clothing) to another planet. It's done here.

Sir,
You have a chance laid before you to make revolutionary history. That is if you're up for it? I as one american citizen believe that you are. Do not give in to apathy and do not sell out to the sinister and despotic new world order machine. You have friends if you stand firm in restoring and maintaining our constitutional representative republic. We together can succeed. We also ask that you carry that torch of light.

Tom - Any political party that advocates redistribution of wealth, supports public funding of private goods and services (such as health care and retirement savings), and places more emphasis on equality of outcome than equality of opportunity, is left of center - regardless of in what country the party is active.
