What an incredible story. Why didn't Shawn run? Apparently he had many chances. Neighbors say they often saw the two together coming and going and all seemed normal?

i think its amazing that the police found both of them...i woke up this morning and turned on the news, and i saw what happened, and i started crying. i cant imagine what its like being kidnapped, or having someone in your family kidnapped. all i can say is that i respect both families for never giving up hope and for even starting a foundation to help others. shawn or ben, if you're reading this, take my advice and keep living like any kid would. spend time with your family and friends, go back to school, party...do whatever. just enjoy life, and dont let that 41 year old guy ruin your life.

Wow, this is all shockingly real because I live in Kirkwood and have eaten at the Imos where the kidnapper worked numerous times.

this is an amazing story, but this article could have been written much better. i have a real problem with the word 'delight' to sum up all of the emotions that the parents felt having found their son after almost 5 years

I am thankful that these two boys have been found. There are plenty of decent people in our society and I hope and pray that this unfortunate circumstance doesn't affect them for the rest of their lives. I also believe that we need to constantly be aware of the potential sick degenerates around us like the pervert that kidnapped and defiled these two young boys, and two posts on this site by, Blort McBlorgistan, and The Rapist. These kind of degenerate illiterate scumsuckers need to get the same treatment done to them just as they have dished out to other innocent people (at this point they at least wouldn't have the 'control' and they would be doing the pleading and begging to be spared)and then sink them to the bottom of an ocean to become fish food. Bye the way, I think you need to monitor your emails a little closer as to what you let on your site. You probably should have deleted the sickos like Blort, and The Rapist.

Please think a little bit about these poor boys. You ask 'why wouldn't the boy run if he was left alone for even one second?' Why don't a lot of children? They are kidnapped and then raped and then told they are dirty and their families would never accept them again. And that their families would be killed if they ever went back. And kids internalize their first sexual experience, even if they don't want to, and it really messes them up. The statistics are at least 1 in 6 boys have been sexually assaulted and 1 in 3 girls (before 18). Statistically speaking you know at least one boy or girl who has been sexually assaulted and is really suffering and can't talk to you about it because you can't imagine why they didn't just run away? You have NO idea what it is like to be sexually assaulted and psychologically victimized. It is because of statements like this that kids can't tell the truth about their sexual assaults and people like you can continue to blame them for not 'running away when they get the chance.' So they can be 'free' but feel like total dirt and filth and eventually kill themselves? Please learn a little bit before talking...

None of the witnesses said if there were one abductor or two. There is one kidnapping charge and it never left the one state. Seems like one easy conviction is good enough for two.

Im glad to hear that the boys are home and are safe. I bet it was really hard on the boys to be taken away from the ones who trully love them. On top of all that the boys got hurt emotionaly and physically. people say you y didnt they run away but its easier said then done.

I'm sorry but if you have a chance to run away you would... and there is no proof that they were sexually abused and just look at the girl elizabeth shoaf, she was sexually abused and she still found a way to escape and she wasn't out in the blue like he was. she was in a hole and she snuck the mans cell phone and got help. Being sexually abused doesn't stop somebody from leaving especially when you have a chance. and he had a chance. She was never by her self alone and he was.... hmmm.... that sounds suspicious....And if you think about it if he really wanted to go home and wanted to be with his family then he would of left because Elizabeth did and she found a way even if it risked her life and he is the same age as she is... and trust me i would know what it is like because i was in that situation for 10 days and still found a way out.....

who ever it is saying about being sexually abused and not wanting to leave i was and i still left and if you care enough to leave then you will.. and if you get councelin then you will be okay... not all people go and kill them selves because i was kidnapped for 10 day back in september and was raped and i still havent killed my self yet..... so i know what it is like and apparently you dont..
