Since Ford opposed the 2003 invasion of Iraq and expressed this opinion in 2004, I believe it cowardly that he conditioned the release of his statements until after his death. Didn't he have a moral obligation, beyond loyalty to party and deferance to sitting President Bush, to express these opinions in a timely manner? This may have fostered the needed public debate, and could have advanced the now widely held public opinion that the war is a costly mistake. Perhaps fewer lives would be lost and fewer resources squandered.
