The idea behind religion is the following:
'I'm right and you are wrong' and:
'You can't prove I am wrong because faith is unprovable'.
So that the bickering goes on for ever and ever and ever.
And when someone points out that religious beliefs disparage people, you reply that those people have asked to be disparaged and if they stopped their actions then you would not need to disparage them, thus they are forcing you to disparage them and as such it is not disparaging because you are only pointing out facts.
Thus everything is someone else's fault, and not yours. And if you are someone else then it is someone else's someone else's fault.
And if someone says anything bad about you then you call them a name-caller, which is in itself a name-caller, but they forced you to be a name-caller so it is their fault.
In other words, the principle idea of religion is to be able to blame someone else and then also blame them for you needing to blame them.
Thus when christians kill muslims (or visa versa) it is just because the muslims (or christians) have asked for it, they are violent, non-believer, mortals without an afterlife and you are just trying to help them, or some other excuse.
Yeah, it is a great philosophy.
Oh yeah, and of course: 'Lance is a homo that does not get the word of jesus and can't understand why we need to train muslims', or 'Lance is a terrorists apologist that can't understand that it is the terrorists that are making us kill muslims'.
Well, the choice is yours: Blame someone else for you killing someone, or stop killing someone.
I worship at the house of the neocon god.
Here are the 10 commandments-
1. Do not worship any other gods except the neocon god.
2. Do not use the neocon god's name in vain, but always
win wars waged in his name with whatever it takes.
3. Everyday is a holy day, abd a good day for a neocon crusade.
4. Honor only followers of the neocon god, and be ready, willing,
and able to sacrifice all others not of the same faith.
5. Murder is acceptable for all who are not believers in the neocon god.
6. Keep your sex acts in the closet, and it will be acceptable.
7. Don't steal from another neocon; everyone else is fair game,
especially if they have black gold spouting from the earth.
8. Never give a sucker an even break, big whoppers are the best lies.
9. All the black gold on earth belongs to the neocon god,
and he has given it to his followers to claim as their own.
10. Take whatever else you want, from whoever has it, and be happy.
Organized religion is the greatest cause of hatred and violence in all of recorded history. It preaches nothing but bigotry and oppression of the human spirit. I applaud all those young people that are starting to see this, and are turning their backs to this archaic belief system. They're even fighting over women being allowed to be bishops! What's wrong with the female of the species being a bishop or a priest? Oh, that's right, religion spits on women. Another reason people are turning away. If they want to keep the lemmings going to their churches, they need to change their ways, and fast. Stop the hatred, stop the bigotry, and stop being obsessed with sexuality. I've never understood religion's fascination with a person's private sex life. It's none of their business. They need to join the 21st century if they want to survive. And I'm not just talking about christian beliefs, I'm talking about ALL religious beliefs. They're all basically the same.
Could it be that churches are filled with criminals and hypocrites because society is filled with criminals and hypocrites?
Getting sermonized by the atheists (a.k.a. the libnazi church) above is worse than the biggest neanderthal evangelist.
'Getting sermonized by the atheists (a.k.a. the libnazi church) above is worse than the biggest neanderthal evangelist.'
Sure, disparaging 101:
If you speak out against organized religion's killing and raping then you must be an atheist, nazi, neanderthal.
A.K.A.: Nice guys don't get to heaven.
Less I forget- the church of the neocon has only one sacred sacrament, in addition to the 10 commandments. Unlike the catholic priests who tend to get their followers plied with wine before hand, the neocons ritual is simply to just bend over and take it raw and unadulterated, while shouting their mantra 'I believe it won't hurt!'
You are going to find hate and hypocracy in all walks of life. What you believe in your heart is the only thing that matters in the long run regardless of whatever anyone else is doing. You can attend a church and it's right for you, or you can choose not to, and that's the right decision for you. Organized religion isn't for everyone. Just because someone doesn't attend a church doesn't mean they don't have beliefs. And when someone is hurting or in a dire circumstances, don't they all call out to God for help in the end - believer or not??
'And when someone is hurting or in a dire circumstances, don't they all call out to God for help in the end - believer or not??'
Actually, that can not be further from the truth. Most people are sick of (your) god and don't want anything to do with it. Most of the people in the world are not christian for example. They have their own gods and goddesses.
In addition, a few 1000 years ago the existence of your god was not even known.
Hopefully you will be able to understand how bizarre your statement is, but I doubt it. Now, if you can kill all those that don't hear the word of jesus then you might be right. I hope you don't try to prove yourself right, but I doubt that too.
That's all christians are. And the hatred being spouted by the believers on this thread is proof. NOBODY knows what the truth is, all any of us know is what makes us feel complete, and at peace with ourselves. Christianity just doesn't cut it anymore. People are figuring that out, and they're also figuring out what was mentioned above-christians are a minority, and it's a made up religion that was created not too long ago. You add up all of the oppression, hate, hypocrisy, running people's sex lives, looking down on women, telling peole how to live, etc. etc. What you have, is a number that ends in the death of religious beliefs. Religion needs to shape up, or shut up. We don't need you anymore to feel whole as people.

The problem of sexual abuse is not confined to Christianity. A Muslim girl told me in confidence that Mullahs in the Islamic faith are also abusing young girls. In all cases the parents are aware of this and are too frightened to say anything.
I had the feeling that she herself had been a victim.
