...of it would not exist if it were not for government subsidies, and fossil fuel back-ups.
I wish I could say 1000 Americans Arrested. Then it would be a important headling on CNN or GOOGLE NEws website. But it was not the case.
Why are we loosing more Tamils in the Hands of Sri Lankan Government.
Why is UN and US Keeping Silent.
Both Cheifs of USA George W Bush and UN Cheif Baki MOON are care less of what happens in Sri Lanka.
The American Government's and UN have in past kept a Blind Eye to What happens to non american people around the world. They don't care of even American black people. So why would you expect them to step in.
American Goverment has been Aiding sri lanka thru two fronts. One thru Pakistan Arms Dealing and Direct thru Sri Lankan Government. They have been wanting the war in Sri Lanka to continue and Kill the people of Northen Region in Sri Lanka for Return of Land to the American Naval Operations.
Pakistan has been contributing because of their pressure from American Government. Pakistan is a warehouse for Weapons trade by American's it is not country that can produce weapons. It can only get free weapons from American or Britan. They do what USA will tell them TODO.
India has no interest in Helping Tamils or Sri Lankan's because they will be loosing their interest to protect their economy. If Sri Lanka becomes a power house then it would eat up India's peice of the pie.
I love the Sri Lanka, the people of Sri Lanka, Sinhala and Tamil. What I don't like the Social and Govermental Injustice done. Thru the help of International Governments.
If Tamils. in sri lanka are not getting help from UN to protect them, then the Tamils in the internation community has the right to sponsor LTTE for any weapons support the defend them from being hit.
In additions, Tamils in Internation community should consider, buying Amry Support from Internation Community to Fight the Sri Lankan government, if UN has not responded the way it has been doing so Far.
Basically Buy or LEase Private Army personally like the US does in IRaq war. I think its a fair game for any one who threaten to kill another race.
If it wasn't for the tamil people of sri lanka, we would not have an identity in the world for a Tamilan to be a Known Race.
I would not want to be called a Tamil Tiger in western world, but atleast that is what is know to the western world when talk of Tamils.
ANy way I hope the people around world will understand that Tamils and Sinhala people are just humans, but the politcal governments are not too kean on doing much to help the Tamils or SInhala population by Bombing the Tamils.
So Lets arrest 1000 american's around the world and then we will know what makes the headlines. I guess it could be americans or canadians it might matter. then again, UN is just a Puppet Show done by Americans , they would care less.
Wonderful logic SP4 - using the same - cars couldn't exist without horse and cart backup, computers couldn't exist without the abacus, SP4 couldn't exist without medication !
None of those things NEED backup Jim.
Wind, and solar need a fossil fuel system to generate when they do not put out, which is frequently. This being the case, you must have TWO sources of power when putting in solar or wind power. Has anyone done the efficiency study on that? Probably not.
That was the point Jim, that and the fact that if the fed gov't did not subsidize wind and solar, they would not be sooo happy about the 'investment'. after all, if you are using fossil fuel in order to utilize wind or solar, what IS the actual benefit?
Try concentrating on your own logic Jim. From what I can see, it's a full time job.
SP4 's usual post,farts in a
SP4's usual comments:a fart in a bottle ,always dragging his feet in finding out the simple facts of life .
Where is Noharness? - a name change perhaps??
Get up to date SP4 - Europe already has proposals for a 'supergrid' of wind turbines spread over a sufficiently large area to guarantee there will always be wind available somewhere within the grid.
If the US wasn't lagging so far behind because of Bush's refusal to recognise global warming, then a similar scheme could have been started in the US - it is just about big enough to meet the wind requirements
It's about time investors warmed up to clean energy.
SP4 is like a dinosaur turned into oil. Though, I would miss his/her creative mockery if he/she didn't show up for the debates.
..I don't suppose it occurs to any of the environazis that:
* Grids, over long distances, eat up prodigous amounts of current...(thats electricty to you)
* There STILL has to be enough 'green' power to overcome THAT and the possibilities of stoppages due to interruptions.
* The cost of this fact makes wind and solar FAR more expensive, which is why it would not exist if the gov't did not fund it...
You know, there is a clean power source with no emission issues and all we have to do is spend the money:
Nuclear.
Better start thinking about that one, kids...
The UK has had an extremely effective national grid since the 1930s which explains why the UK system is so reliant compared with the outages suffered by the individual area based USA set up
Three Mile Island...Chernobyl...What color is radiation anyway, green?
Let's do more research and invite clean business energy into our lives.
Down with those who accuse us of being Evironazis (please excuse the word, it is not in the dictionary). We never have nor ever will believe in genocide of people or their environment.
Edited: Environazis (as I reiterate, not a word found in the dictionary).
...some of us don't need permission of another authority to speak our minds.
..do we not all live under the Constitution?
Let us assume the IPCC is right. Yes, I know, that is a really BIG assumption, but let's give the devil his due and be done with it.
The only way to make solar or wind power useful is to have very large and very reliable batteries in the system that do not drive up the costs so high that the systems are no longer economically viable. I keep hearing that the battery technology is 'just over the horizon' and that we'll have 'em 'real soon now.'
But, assuming the IPCC is right, we don't really have time to wait on the battery technology to bear fruit do we? The environment is about reach the tipping point, isn't it?
So the real answer is to use the genuinely clean technology we already have in hand--nuclear fission. For now, start replacing the coal-fired plants with nukes while we wait for the batteries to be developed. Once we have the batteries, we can start replacing the fission plants with solar and wind.
The cleanest transport technology we have are diesel engines. Everyone screams when I say that, but it's true. The transport system that burns the least amount of fuel produces the least amount of pollution, especially CO2. Diesel engines are forty-percent more efficient than gasoline engines burning gasoline. They are seventy-percent more efficient than gasoline engines burning pure ethanol.
Just converting our vehicle fleet, all vehicles using engines in excess of 25 horsepower at least, to diesel would save millions of barrels of oil per day and reduce vehicular CO2 output by at least forty percent. True, diesel engines will add anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000 to the price of your vehicle, but you are already paying for a new one with a five year loan so what's the big deal?
Here is the real beauty of converting over to diesel engines. At the moment, bio-diesel is 89% as efficient as diesel distilled from crude. That efficiency will likely improve once bio-diesels are in full production. Another great thing about bio-diesel is that it can be made from algae. Algae can be farmed in places where ordinary crops cannot and algae can be vastly more productive in terms of BTU's per acre yield. In other words, bio-diesel will not drive up the price of groceries the way ethanol is already doing.
There is a lot of talk about converting cellulose to ethanol. That's another stupid thing that won't really pay off--even if we manage to produce that magic, 'just-over-the-horizon' enzyme technology needed to make that profitable. The smart thing to do is to simply convert the cellulose to methane. We have THAT technology well in hand. We've been using it on a small scale for several decades. It works. Why not use it?
The innumerate stupidity being bandied about by politicians (and some engineers who should know better) is just mind boggling.
Upshot? There really ARE solutions to our energy related security woes. Those solutions are not always the favorite of one axe-grinder or another, but they exist. They are in hand and we SHOULD BE PUTTING THEM TO WORK RIGHT NOW!
Algae sounds good. Full steam ahead into alternative energy sources!
Reason always has, always will. Shell isn't exactly what you call a minor investor:

Better batteries just over the horizon ?Not anymore, just google Stanford, lithium, battery and find out for yourselves that a new type of battery is being developed which holds TEN times the amount of energy stored by a classic lithium battery, thanks to the work on nanotechnology wires used in it.Amazingly good news .Only science can free us from disaster, providing you fund them well;Don't send your money to phony preachers and ministers, fund education and you will help the world and yourselves.
Has anyone ever actually sat down and compared the cost of all this so-called green power to just switching to nuclear and being done with it? If there is one thing that is never measured in all of this it is the most practical alternatives.
Long term waste management, new, enrichment and disposal technologies, combined with intrinsically safe reactor operation would provide a continuous sauce of power for the next 50 years while all of this so-called green power could be developed, or my favorite, fusion, could be developed.
The potential cost savings would be enormous and we'd kill a bird that needs killing too: fusion, the only real long term solution. No real sensitive technologies would be required so we could license it to other nations, something the UN seems to think we're obligated to do, for whatever reason, so the enviro-libnazi appeasers would even be placated.
Probably not...huh.
