bulletproof turbans. A shot to the head is merely a minor flesh wound to a cop.

How manyMay 10th, 2009 - 02:07:57

Sikh cops are there in the UK? Let's just throw a number out there. Let's say 1,000. How many millions of Pounds will it cost to make a bulletproof head-rag? This is not cost effective. I am fed up with minorities getting everything they want or they'll shout discrimination. I'm fed up with the gutless, spineless authorities who don't tell these idiots to suck it up. If they don't like it they can go back to the land of their forefathers. The buggers should either quit the force or wear a proper hat. The whole damnable thing is Sikh-ening.

good questionMay 10th, 2009 - 02:12:00

The story says 2,000 in the association, but does that represent them all? Do all of them want duly blessed Kevlar head wraps, or just a few malcontents, trouble makers? I agree, political correctness has gone too far.

The amount of things that are done for Muslims - its all getting a bit ridiculous - taking care of all their 'sensitivities' - is a career move - its about time people from other community groups got something

How many times do you hear anything about the Sikhs or Hindus - but with Muslims - oh my God !! everyday another demand !!

All in all - the Sikhs have shown loyalty and respect for the country - what are one or two demands !!

Everyday we are told we need to learn about Islam - this and Islam that - but what do we know about the Sikhs religion (boys and girls are seen as equal, because when they are little, both wear their hair up in a bun) - not much !! And not much about Hinduism either !!

Only about Islam - because of the violence - if we are told we or our children should know more about Islam - we should say what about - the Sikh, Hindu and Buddhists beliefs, practises and holidays - as well !!

let's go from the sublime to the ridiculous. How about something for me? I've been silent up til now. I'm a minority. There's no one else in this bloody country like me. I want a holiday for me, and I want a Manor, a Peerage, the Crown bloody jewels and no sodding taxes, because I am member in good standing in the Religous Order of One. While you're at it, all you others can bend down and kiss my arse. I promise not to break wind.

interject himself into what appears to be a family dispute(something even cops don't like to do - it is the most dangerous occurance: unpredictable) A poster says, in effect, these are good people, give them a few things. Another poster takes it to the next level. The question, in my mind is: When one starts, where does one stop? It is a slope that is greased. I'm sure that some Muslims, which are very vocal today, started off the same way. Yesterday, the Muslims, today the Sikhs, tomorrow:? We are all minorities, so at what point does 'Majority Rules' come into effect? What is fair for all? I am not taking sides, I see good points on both sides. I also see not good points, on both sides. OK, people, you can get back to the mud slinging, I'm going to hew wood and draw water.

Good point from the Colonial. To put some posters remarks in perspective though, you've got to see them against a background of our p.c. nanny establishment's irritating habit of always putting the natives last. Our kids learn routinely about Diwali, Id and Ramadan as part of our 'obligations to espouse multiculturalism' whilst at the same time some schools refer to Christmas as 'Winterval' so as not to offend 'ethnic minority sensitivities.' Doesn't bother me personally cos I'm not religious, but were I a Christian I would be a bit miffed.

You would have to have lived somewhere with a 'progressive' local council to appreciate the idiocies that are inflicted on us. On one occasion a family butcher, established for generations, was told that his window display was 'racist and offensive to Muslims.' Oh, sorry, I should have said a Pork Butcher! My own local authority assiduously flies the appropriate flag on all national saints days except 23rd of April, when it invariably forgets St George's day.

Everyone can cite newspaper reports of some fanatical mullah preaching that we are scum who should be shot. Not only is the nutter hardly ever prosecuted under our draconian anti-racist legislation but it usually emerges that he and his entire family have been living here entirely on state benefits ever since they were chucked out by their own country's somewhat more sensible authorities. This annoys people. Similarly, if a black man mugs a white and steals his cash, then he's a mugger, pure and simple. If a white man mugs a black and steals his cash, it's a racist incident and he's guilty of 'Hate Crime.' And you won't believe the criterion used to define it as such! It's 'Hate Crime' if the victim says he thinks it was! That's it. QED.

Even showing respect for the national flag is frowned upon. The excuse is that a quite small number of braindead fascist thugs, who jackboot about carrying Union Flags have so intimidated our 'oppressed ethnic minority populations' that they are likely to faint clean away at a mere glimpse of the Red, White and Blue. The real reason is that leftist bigots of the 'my country always wrong' variety hate displays of patriotism. Businesses and private individuals have been ordered to remove Union Jacks and St George's Crosses by some local authorities on this pretext. Yanks, who leap up onto their hind legs, clutching at their tickers at any and every sight of 'Old Glory' must think us very peculiar.

So forgive us for what may seem to be intolerance, Mr Colonial. It's born of frustration. Inspired by the thought 'here's another bloody minority demanding special treatment.' We don't like anyone being given special or preferential treatment. Even us. To a Brit, that is 'NOT PLAYING FAIR.' Everyone should be treated the same. It's particularly unfortunate in this case because the Sikhs are good folk who have fit into our society well, demanded nothing more than the right to follow their own religion; something the vast majority of Brits, who are in no way fanatical, would never oppose, and because as you can see from the article, all joking aside, the request is reasonable and the motivation behind it, noble indeed.
