8 killed, 90 injured in explosion in central Colombo (1st Lead)

Colombo - More than 8 people were killed and 90 injured in an explosion Friday in central Colombo when a suicide bomber drove a motor bike into a bus carrying police personnel in central Colombo, reported the Ministry of Defence.

The attack occured at noon near government-owned Lake House.

The Ministry of Defence claimed the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels were responsible for the attack.
