Washington - A US government website where documents relating to the ousted Iraqi regime's illicit weapons programmes were posted may have included excessive details about the construction of a nuclear bomb, The New York Times reported Friday.

The documents in question were pulled from the internet late Thursday after the newspaper inquired with government officials, the Times reporter.

Chad Kolton, spokesman for National Intelligence Director John Negroponte, told the Times that the content of the website, the so-called Operation Iraqi Freedom Document Portal, would be reviewed 'to ensure its content is appropriate for public viewing.'

About a dozen documents among the large Iraqi archive posted to the website contained enough details to constitute a guide to building a nuclear weapon, the Times said, citing nuclear experts. One diplomat said that weapons experts at the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency were 'shocked' by what was available on the website.
