From Monsters and Critics.com US News Washington - US President George W Bush again decried the nation's dependence on foreign oil Monday, saying the United States must develop alternate energy sources to ensure the economy remains competitive. 'Dependence on foreign oil jeopardizes our capacity to grow,' Bush said in a speech at a maritime training facility in Piney Point, Maryland, to mark the US celebration of Labour Day. Bush stressed the need to expand the country's nuclear power capability and to further develop new technologies, such as ethanol production. The speech also emphasized the president's economic policies, including keeping taxes low and opening up international markets for trade. © 2006 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur© Copyright 2003 - 2005 by monstersandcritics.com.
