From Monsters and Critics.com US News Washington - The US military successfully conducted a missile defence test on Friday that was aimed at evaluating upgraded radar and tracking systems, the Pentagon said. A missile fired from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California intercepted a rocket launched from Kodiak Island, the Pentagon said. 'Although not a primary objective for the data collection flight test, an intercept of the target warhead was achieved,' the military said. US President George W Bush has stepped up testing of missile defence during his tenure, and the military has already deployed a limited system in Fort Greeley, Alaska. Missile defence is aimed at protecting the United States and its allies from an attack by a rogue state, namely North Korea or Iran. © 2006 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur© Copyright 2003 - 2005 by monstersandcritics.com.
