Senate confirms Schwab as top US trade representative

Washington - The Senate on Thursday confirmed Susan Schwab as the new US trade negotiator.

Schwab was deputy to former trade representative Rob Portman, who left the post earlier this year to become White House budget director.

\'Trade is one of President Bush\'s top priorities,\' Schwab said in a statement.
