From Monsters and Critics.com US News Washington - Ballot measures on the US involvement in Iraq were put before voters in 32 communities in the US state of Wisconsin, and a majority said they wanted to bring their troops home, news reports said Wednesday. Twenty-four of the communities, including Madison and La Crosse, approved the nonbinding measures in Tuesday\'s elections. The votes will not directly affect the policies of the US government, but the group that worked to put the referenda on the ballot, Bring the Troops Home, called it a victory and said it indicated the nation\'s growing disapproval of President George W Bush\'s Iraq policies. Wisconsin is a state that traditionally does not vote for Bush\'s centre-right Republican Party, but in a surprise, Whitefish Bay, which is a traditional Republican stronghold, was among the communities approving the Iraq ballot measure. © 2006 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur© Copyright 2003 - 2005 by monstersandcritics.com.
