From Monsters and Critics.com US News Reno, Nevada - The son of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has entered the political world, hoping to win for the Democrats one of two U.S. Senate seats of Nevada, the Reno Gazette Journal reported Tuesday. Jack Carter, 58, an investment consultant, is hoping to unseat Nevada's junior U.S. senator John Ensign in the November election despite trailing badly in the polls and in fundraising. If successful the election bid could signal the start of another political dynasty like those fostered by the Bush and Kennedy clans. Carter, who has lived in the desert gambling state for three years, told a crowd of about 350 people that he would be 'Nevada's voice to Washington' and said he was hoping to capitalize on a 'strong tide turning against the Republicans.' 'He knows what he's doing,' the 39th president said. 'He'll never lie to anybody. He'll always tell you the truth. And he'll never give up. No one has ever worked any harder in Nevada to be elected than my son will work in the next few months. So, he doesn't need any advice from me.' Carter was 30 when his father was elected president and never lived in the White House. He served one tour of duty in the Navy in Vietnam before being given an administrative discharge for using marijuana and LSD. Carter has a law degree and a degree in physics. He's worked as a commodities trader, investment broker and consultant. He and his wife, Elizabeth, have four adult children, all from previous marriages. © 2006 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur© Copyright 2003 - 2005 by monstersandcritics.com.
