Twenty-four of the communities, including Madison and La Crosse, approved the nonbinding measures in Tuesday's elections.
The votes will not directly affect the policies of the US government, but the group that worked to put the referenda on the ballot, Bring the Troops Home, called it a victory and said it indicated the nation's growing disapproval of President George W Bush's Iraq policies.
Wisconsin is a state that traditionally does not vote for Bush's centre-right Republican Party, but in a surprise, Whitefish Bay, which is a traditional Republican stronghold, was among the communities approving the Iraq ballot measure.
