Two soldiers killed, three injured in northern Iraq (Extra)

Baghdad - A bomb ripped through an army patrol on Thursday, killing three Iraqi soldiers and injuring another three in the northern Iraqi province of Kirkuk, police said. The bomb struck the army patrol on the road between Kirkuk and Tikrit, General Ali Abdullah told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa. The multi-ethnic city of Kirkuk is located some 250 kilometres north of the capital Baghdad. Tikrit, the capital of Salah al-Din province, is located about 175 kilometres from Baghdad. Police and army patrols are a common target for militants in Iraq.
