Their policies sound sensible, they are sending a signal that they don't want to be attacked.

However, firing 9 missiles to show their national defense capacity is embarrassingly counterproductive. If anything they have shown how weak they are. But, lets overlook that and simply work towards a world where muslims and christians can live in peace without weapons. And of course, the world leader in weapon stockpiling and show of force is the christian U.S. But, we can forgive the U.S. for being the leader in weapons and war and hope that the U.S. leads a way to peace sometime in the future. Or for that matter, that ANY country or collections of countries leads the way to peace.

However, I doubt it because the problem is that world leaders are motivated by religious intolerance and the need to convert societies to what they see as the ultimate religious righteousness. Such an aggressive stance always leads to friction and war.

I'm an American and I think Iran has every right to test its weapon systems in preparation for a war with Israel. In fact, I'm glad they did. Maybe our puppet government will think twice (I doubt it) before it gets involved in another war for the benefit of our puppet master, Isreal.

Don't you Iranians get tired of your government getting you into trouble with the rest of the world ? Wouldn't it be so much better if you got rid of them so we all could live in peace ?

As a student and author of Biblical Prophecy, I cannot help but realize the there is an End Time prophecy which indicates that a Middle Eastern leader will take peace from the earth with a Great Battle.

Could this situation with Iran lead to that Great Battle and World War?

all is as usual in the middle east. I guess the only peace will be when no one is left....yeesh. Sadly the Iranian people lost their revolution to the Mullahs, who are hell bent on Imposing their will on all they see.
They have no concern for the economy or the happyness of the people. Sit back and let them test one nuke, then its a green light to strike Iran. Of course they wont have enough of a stock pile to pose a major threat.
But of course if you wait....as they build up their stock pile, the fuse gets shorter and shorter.

Haven't we heard all this crap before? Remember Sadam's 'Mother of all Battles' gibberish just before we Junkpiled his entire mlitary in about six days way back in 1991.Iran better wake up! They're starting to believe their own propaganda and its gonna wind up getting a lot more Muslim's killed. If it comes to a shooting war with the U.S.,this one will be short,VERY destructive and without the messy post war 'nation building'
that has dragged on in Iraq.Time for the Iranian government to grasp reality and shut up. Moderation and an end to their repressive regime would be a lot safer for the people of Iran...a whole lot safer than trying to rebuild a shattered country.

A news story with headline and no relevanceJul 9th, 2008 - 14:57:15

Iran has no capability to launch a bunch of missiles, and lacks the capability to guide them properly.

Iran can be much more of a nuisance with attacks on oil shipments, using fast small boats. If you think that 'land' attacks such as those continuing in Iraq are a problem, imagine oil tankers at risk, the the spillage potential.

As you consider stories such as this, bear in mind that it was Saddam's removal that upset the balance of power, and let Iran get into this bargaining position.

If there's a conflict ahead; thank Bush and Cheney for doing the groundwork by screwing up that existing balance between the nations in the region.

Iraq continues to be a political mess, with minor gains offset by a lack of direction ... and now they want a date for U.S. troops to LEAVE as part of an agreement. Afghanistan is probably worse than ever, and we've finally moved a carrier into position for air attacks. Pakistan is a problem, even for Afghanistan, per the recent bombing.

And addlepated SP4 cheering the whole mess on - the only one who's a bigger ass-kisser than Lieberman.

'Leaders that back Hizbolla - sensible'

If what is good for the goose is good for the gander then Iran is simply following the lead of the United States, which has backed insurrection forces around the world for decades.

Demonstrating that they don't want to be attacked is sensible.

Backing insurrection forces is not sensible. Both Iran and the U.S. are guilty of lack of sensibilities in that department.

Iran has every right to be prepared to defend themselves - really stupid if they weren't in this volatile world. And I'm saying DEFEND, nothing more, nothing less.
