Sunni-led Accord Front to rejoin cabinet one year after withdrawing

Baghdad - The Iraqi Accord Front (IAF) announced Tuesday it will rejoin the cabinet one year after withdrawing from the government. Salem al-Jaboury, spokesman of the IAF announced that a list of candidates to fill empty posts in the cabinet was presented to Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, reported Al-Arabiya news channel. In August last year, IAF withdrew its five ministers and PM deputy post from the government, claiming it did not meet their demands for a share in political and security decision-making as well as releasing detainees in US and Iraqi detention centers. Al-Jaboury said Tuesday that several demands of the Sunni-led front were implemented. Al-Arabiya said that al-Maliki approved the name list. IAF is the biggest Sunni bloc in the parliament as it is composed of three groups and hold 44 out of the parliament's total 275 seats.
