Polish report: Hand-over of province stopped due to terror threat

Warsaw - A ceremony slated for Monday to hand Iraqis control of security in Diwaniyah province was cancelled due to worries about a terror attack, the Polish Press Agency reported. The agency cited sources close to coalition forces for the development, which came after Iraqi officials had cited bad weather for the delay in the transfer of security responsibilities from coalition troops to Iraqi forces. The agency provided no further details. There are currently 900 Polish troops in Iraq. Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said they would be withdrawn this year. Diwaniyah is to be the 10th Iraqi province handed over by US-led coalition troops to Iraqi control.
