Negev Nuclear Research Center

Institute 2, Israel Atomic Energy Commission (IAEC), Dimona, photographed by Mordechai VanunuThe Negev Nuclear Research Center is an Israeli nuclear installation located in the Negev desert, about ten kilometers to the south of the city of Dimona.

Its construction commenced in 1958, with French assistance according to the secret Protocol of Sèvres agreements. The complex was constructed in secret, and outside the International Atomic Energy Agency inspection regime. To maintain secrecy, French customs officials were told that the largest of the reactor components, such as the reactor tank, were part of a desalination plant bound for Latin America. The purpose of Dimona is widely assumed to be the manufacturing of nuclear weapons, and the majority of defense experts have concluded that it does in fact do that. However, the Israeli government refuses to confirm or deny this publicly, as part of a policy of deliberate ambiguity.

The Dimona reactor went on-line some time between 1962 and 1964, and with the plutonium produced there, perhaps together with enriched uranium (see Plumbat Operation), the Israel Defence Forces most probably had their first nuclear weapons ready before the Six-Day War.

When the United States intelligence community discovered the purpose of Dimona in the early 1960s, it demanded that Israel agree to international inspections. Israel agreed, but on a condition that US, rather than International Atomic Energy Agency, inspectors were used, and that Israel would receive advance notice of all inspections.

Some claim that because Israel knew the schedule of the inspectors' visits, it was able to hide the alleged purpose of the site (manufacturing of nuclear weapons) from the inspectors, by installing temporary false walls and other devices before each inspection. The inspectors eventually informed the U.S. government that their inspections were useless, due to Israeli restrictions on what areas of the facility they could inspect. By 1969 the U.S. believed that Israel might have a nuclear weapons and terminated inspections.

Israeli Jews must be addicted to the news media. Every day they make the World News for committing some violent act or advocating violence against another people or country. I would just like to pick up a newspaper one day without having to read about Jews making the news for murder, war crimes, or human rights violations. JUST ONE DAY, THAT'S ALL I ASK!!!!

Ehud Olmert -do you believe what he says?Jun 5th, 2008 - 09:03:41

On 7 March 2006, it was disclosed that an inquiry was being carried out on the 1999 sale and lease-back of Olmert's Jerusalem house, which allegedly was done on financial terms very favorable to Olmert, in what would amount to be an illegal campaign contribution and/or bribe.] A criminal investigation regarding this matter was formally launched on 24 September 2007.

On 16 January 2007, a criminal investigation was initiated against Olmert. The investigation focused on suspicions that during his tenure as finance minister, Olmert tried to steer the tender for the sale of Bank Leumi in order to help Slovak-born Australian real estate baron Frank Lowy, a close personal associate. Israeli Police who investigated the case eventually concluded that the evidence that was collected was insufficient for indictment and no recommendations to press charges were made.

After the criticism of Olmert's decision making by the Winograd Commission in its Preliminary report, many expected him to leave office, including his foreign minister Tzippi Livni. The final report of the commission turned out to be more positive about Olmert than expected, which derailed the protests demanding his resignation.

In April 2007 it was further alleged that, during his office as Minister of Trade, Industry and Labor, Olmert may have been guilty of criminal behavior by taking an active part in an investment center. During a parliamentary inquest in July 2007, Olmert flatly denied these accusations.

In May 2008, it became public that Olmert was the subject of another police investigation. The investigation concerns bribery allegations. ] Olmert said that he took campaign contributions from the Jewish-American businessman Morris Talansky when he was running for Mayor of Jerusalem, leadership of the Likud and candidacy in the Likud list for the Knesset, but resisted calls to resign, and stated: 'I never took bribes, I never took a penny for myself. I was elected by you, citizens of Israel, to be the prime minister and I don't intend to shirk this responsibility. If Attorney General Meni Mazuz decides to file an indictment, I will resign from my position, even though the law does not oblige me to do so.'[ On May 23, National Fraud Squad investigators interrogated Olmert for an hour in his Jerusalem residence for a second time about corruption allegations. It was the 5th probe since he became prime minister and no charges had been yet filed.[ On May 27, Morris Talansky testified in front of court that over the last 15 years he gave Olmert more than $150000 in cash in envelopes

What about this...Jun 5th, 2008 - 18:17:14

From another thread, the US is to give war toys to Israel:

' The 'security package' Israel will receive will enhance Israel's defence against long-range missiles, and includes radar, as well as cruise missiles and a permanent hook-up to a worldwide warning system that identifies whenever a ballistic missile is launched from anywhere.'

Since when are cruise missiles a defensive weapon? Any bets that Israel will stick some of their 200 Nukes on them? Israelis the biggest obstacle to peace in the Muddled East. When they hold peace talks, it should be called Piece Talks. 'We want a piece of this and a piece of that.'

I agree with you whole heartedly. I used to be sympathetic towards them. As it stands now, I would not raise a cry of protest if they all got wiped out. If I hear that classic Jewish whine: 'The Holocaust, the Holocaust, remember the Holocaust,' one more time, I will puke at the very least. I wasn't there, I didn't do it, I wasn't responsible for it. I will not hear it again. If the Jews want to sit Shiva for the rest of time, they can do it on their own time, not mine. The Jews need to get a little perspective. The, at most, 4 million is nothing compared to the over 100 million that died in all the wars of the 20th century. How many countless millions of all ethnicities survived, scarred all to hell in body and soul? That was a tragedy for all mankind. I resent a small sect hijacking the whole thing and making it appear that only they suffered. The 6 million that they claim died is a mathmatical impossiblity. Historical fact: In Nazi held territory there was only 5 million Jews. Not all of them died. Israel is built on a lie and it continues to live a lie. The Hollow-cost.

Iran has never threatened to wipe Israel off the map. Once Ahmadinejad said that 'the regime which occupies Jersualem must be eliminated from the sands of time.' This has often been translated as 'Israel must be eliminated from the face of the map.' This is incorrect but as Goebbels once said 'a lie repeated a thousand times becomes the truth.' Ahmadinejad was referring to a change of regime in Israel to one that would respect the rights of Palestinians. His comment is not much different than Ronald Reagan's statement that the 'Soviet Union would be relegated to the dustbin of History.' Neither was trying to imply a military threat. Iran is not a military threat but is threatened by Israel and its US puppet. Keep in mind that the AEIA has repeatedely stated that there is no evidence that Iran has diverted nuclear source material for any military purpose and that our own National Intelligence Estimate says that Iran curently has no nuclear weapons program. ALthough the US authorities allege that Iran is aiding insurgents in Iraq, (where we have no legitimate business anyway) they have produced no proof and almost no evidence to back this up. A war against Iran by Israel and/or the US would be a noral atrocity and probably a strategic disaster. Israeli paranoia should not govern US policy.

You missed one very important point. Exactly where did Israel get the fuel for their reactor/weapons program? I'll give you a clue. How much is 'missing' from US inventories?
