Carter is a wise and fundamentally humanistic president who sees hope in justice for the oppressed.
There is no doubt that the current impasse and instability in the Middle East is due in part to his failure to achieve a comprehensive peace in the Camp David accord of 1978. A partial peace between Israel and Egypt and Later on between Israel and Jordan has left Israel in a continuing state of occupation in the West Bank, Gaza and the Syrian Golan Heights. With Egypt and Jordan Isolated from the confrontation with Israel, Israel had no incentive to give up the occupation of the remaining Arab land thus leading to the current dangerous impasse. The occupied territories in Syria and Palestine are like a fishbone in Israel's throat. Its causing it to choke because it is unable to swallow it or to spit it. Israeli Politics is a hostage to the Israeli Settler movement intent on colonizing arab land and expanding Israeli territory.
Which brings us back to explaining why Carter in his Latest book and now in his political tour is attempting to complete an incompleted task and maybe prepare the ground work for a democratic administration in 2009 to complete an unfinished task of having Israel make peace with all the Arab world under the terms of the Arab Peace offer under which Israel relinquishes Arab territories occupied in 1967 in return for a full peace with all the Arab world, which ultimately leads to a disengagement of the Us from all the militaristic ventures in the Middle East and allows the Integration and assimilation of Israel with the other states of the Middle East, living in harmony and prosperity. It is Ironic that this goal could have been accomplished in 1967, 1973, 1978, 1992 and every year ever since, had the United States had the courage to implement security council resolutions with regard to the Arab Israeli conflict.
The US failure to do so has enaled Israel to engage in a Policy of Colonization through occupation and development of Arab occupied territories, thus dragging the Us in a never ending quagmire in the Middle East. Carter sees clearly the outlines of the solution and is thus preparing the groundwork for the next administration to complete an unfinished task. What he is doing is insightful andcourageous.

'Carter is a wise and fundamentally humanistic president who sees hope in justice for the oppressed.'

...and he does this by meeting with card-carrying terrorists?

The rest of your drivel, Doctor, is just blah, blah, blah in not telling the truth:

Hamas is committed to the destruction of the Jewish state, end of story. The Palestinians are trying to free themselves by being slaves to the terrorists who run Gaza. Rockets falling on innocent Israeli civilians.... there is Palestinian justice.
