Riyadh - Saudi Arabia condemned the bombing attack on a US embassy car north of Beirut on Tuesday, calling it a 'terrorist act' meant to prevent stability in Lebanon.
The bombing that killed three bystanders aimed to prevent Lebanon from reaching a solution over its crisis, said Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal, speaking through a translator.
He vowed however that such destructive ambitions 'will not be a success' and repeated his support for the Arab initiative in Lebanon.
The initiative, he said, 'responds to ... all the Lebanese aspirations, with regard to balance and treatment, legitimacy' in terms of changing Lebanon's election system.
Al-Faisal made the remarks in a press conference with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
At least three people died and 20 were injured when the bomb struck a car belonging to the US embassy north of Beirut, Lebanese and Red Cross officials said.
Lebanese internal security forces said the three Lebanese civilians killed were bystanders who happened to be in Beirut's Dora area.
