Polish president confirms Iraq pullout by October 2008

Warsaw - Polish President Lech Kaczynski has signed a government bill authorizing the pullout of Polish soldiers from Iraq by October 2008, news agency PAP reported. Presidential representatives had prior to this declined to confirm whether Kaczynski, who advocated continuing the mission, would support the bill. Poland currently has around 900 troops in Iraq, and has been involved in the multi-national deployment in the country since the initial US-led invasion in 2003, with its troop levels reaching a height of 2,500.
