It's about time Russia cut itself loose from the warmongering Americans
Helping Iran with it's drive for civillian power stations is the right thing to do, if the West stopped the war rhetoric things could be sorted out peacefully, but the neocons and Zionists don't want an aggreable outcome, war is their aim and nothing the Iranians do will stop them, I can only hope that the American public will waken up to what these self seeking warmongers are about, before it is too late.

The Russians have been helping Iran develop its nuclear program for many many years.

The Iranian government/theocracy sponsors rallies and indoctrinates people to such an extent that they chant 'death to america' and burn effigies. People in the US see that and are justifiably wary of arming such people with nuclear weapons. Proliferation is dangerous on its own, but if radicals with declared murderous intentions get the bomb, the world becomes a much more dangerous place.
I'm all for peace and brotherly love - but common sense is important too.

Why do you say that? Iran NEVER said its nuclear program was for weaponry. The IAEA sees no weapon development and the U.S. own intelligence agencies find nothing to show an attempt anymore. So where are your sources? Do you have better inspectors and intelligence agents than everyone else?
A wiser course of action by America would have been to HELP, yes HELP the Iranians with their NUCLEAR POWER projects and they could have monitored every stage of development and every grain of uranium and plutonium.
But NO! The puppet bush (bush has a hole in his back into which a jewish israeli arm goes in to move his lips, it is also called a dummy) becomes adversarial and threatens war sending massive amounts of ships off their waters to intimidate them and brings sanctions to the country! Smart move dummy!
He needs to plug that hole up and be a man and American but it is too late.

Based upon the level of critical judgement you have shown on these forums, that doesn't surprise me at all. But once your bogey man Bush is gone - and he will be soon, the US will experience a peaceful transfer of power with a very very low probability of nuclear weapons falling into the hands of someone outside of a generations old strictly controlled chain of command and security structure.
The same cannot be said of Immadindahead. In these radically indoctrinated muslim countries whose mobs scream for blood and mayhem at the publishing of cartoons, the risk of 'the bomb' falling into trigger happy hands is greater. The regimes themselves are less stable and it is much MORE likely that weapons would be misused.
We also need to consider increased risks of regional arms race and further proliferation.
Middle Eastern - and most muslim countries in general, are relatively behind the times (to put it mildly) in terms of political development, education, etc., compared to western countries. This just means more risk.

So? They also tried to hide most of their programs from the international community and succeeded for nearly 2 decades. Why would they do that if it was peaceful? If you believe the latest NIE, then you also have to accept that Iran had an active secret weapons program until 2003.
What I find especially odd about all this talk of weapons development timelines, is that the US with no computers developed the theory, processes, and weapons from start to finish in three years about 65 years ago. How could it be that with published weapon designs and procedures readily available, and no uncertainty whatsoever about the viability of these projects, that it takes other countries years if not decades to produce the same results.
The only real time consuming part of the process is enrichment. Iran has stated it is continuing and even increasing its enrichment capability.

Iran had secret nuclear programs for decades. They didn't tell the US - they didn't tell the IAEA. Having official and secret programs are not mutually exclusive as Iran has already shown. Everything hinges on Iran's intents and actions. If they choose to keep programs secret, they will stay secret. If the Germans, Russians, Americans, or even Israelis helped Iran build nuclear reactors, it would not preclude Iran from having parallel secret programs. Do you understand that?

I am in no way demonising the American people as a whole. Perhaps my postings don't make the right distinction from your politicians and the general public. I am old enough to appreciate the sacrifices the American soldiers made in world war one and world war two, to which I and Europe owe a debt of gratitude, because those soldiers where fighting for freedom from tyrany, it just seems lately that the tyrany is comming from your politicians. I have always respected the USA in the past, beleiving that America could be liked more for it's benevolence than it's bombs and bullets. To my way of thinking the people who run the Whitehouse have betrayed the American public, for a twopenny state called Israel. Anyone who can look objectivley at the problems in the world today cannot but see
where a lot of it stems from. China communist or not dose'nt have elections so call it a dictatorship if you like. your still in hock.
I'm glad nuclear fuel is finally being shipped to the Bushehr plant. It should've happened months ago, but due to 'financial' reasons (also known as Western pressure to stop the construction of a PEACEFUL nuclear power plant), the fuel deliveries were delayed.
I, for one, don't care if Iran has nuclear weapons or not. I think it is unfair for certain powers to dictate whether or not other countries should have nuclear weapons or not. Who is America to say, 'you can't have nuclear weapons?'. Based on the track record of nations that built nuclear weapons (China, Israel, India, and Pakistan), I think it is actually advantageous that Iran get nuclear weapons. Seeing how those four countries are being treated now, hopefully Iran getting nuclear weapons will even the bargaining chips between America and Iran.
And for those of you who are fearful of Iran bombing Israel or the US, the same stupid rhetoric was used when the Soviets got nukes: 'OMG! DAMN COMMIES GOT NUKES! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!! NUCLEAR ARMAGEDDON! OMG!!'.
Well, I'm still waiting...
And when the Chinese got the hydrogen bomb and neutron bombs, 'OMG!! CHINESE!! FOREIGN COUNTRY GOT THE H-BOMB AND N-BOMB! WE'RE DEAD! KILL CHINA!! COMMUNIST CHINESE WILL USE THOSE AGAINST DEMOCRATIC AMERICA!'

The reason why we don't want other countries getting nuclears weapons is that it shatters the monopoly on the ultimate weapon that only a privileged few have. With that in mind, I don't care which country produces nuclear weapons. If they can produce it, they deserve to have it.

So when did our politicians and everyone who supported them, including many brave soldiers, become bad/evil? Should we have sacrificed 50K soldiers to protect ROK? What about the sacrifices and trillions spent during cold war?

Even though our bombs killed tens of thousands of French/low country civilians? What about poor planning that forced US tankers to go against panzers with outclassed tanks using training shells? Crappy generals? Fire bombing enemiy cities?
So what about the muslims of the former Yugoslavia? While our final response was belated, didn't we try to protect them?
I'm sure people can come up with plenty of examples of the good/bad.
In the case of Iraq, there are large swaths of the population - probably the majority of people - who are glad Saddam is gone. He was a tyrant. The bloodshed and chaos in Iraq is now caused by suicide bombers and radicals who cannot tolerate a democratic society and/or a US success. I'll readily admit that there are plenty of shia radicals as well. Of course they didn't really open the gates of hell until spring of 06. Prior to that it was mostly sunni extremists blowing people to bits.
If you remove murderous extremists and their powerful foreign sponsors, Iraq would probably not be such a bad place right now. Romanticize it all you want, but it is the tyrannical extremists that are causing trouble - not the US.
Amazingly enough there are morons out there who think this is a good idea because the USA opposes it. It will probably mean a nuclear war.
If I were you, I would not attempt to have an intelligent converstion with SP4, Charles or Noawareness. They are dyed in the wool republicans who have been told what to think and are incapable of independent thought. What Chucky baby does is get you involved and then sticks to what he knows and is incapable of respecting the other person's opinion, without degrading it into a flaming match. The non-sequiturs and side trips he goes on have nothing to do with the topic. And then slangs you for 'not answering his questions.' It appears that all he wants to do with these forums is try to brainwash you too. Charles has steadfastly claimed that all he wants is intelligent discourse. That is impossible to do, as his mind has been intercoursed. Ignore these three. This is one case where ignorance is bliss.
