What I would like to see is a way to measurably determine success. There don't have to be hard deadlines. For example: 'we will secure xxxx neighborhood' .. this way we can measure our level of success.
I am not bigoted against Iraqis. I am just sick of arab nonsense in general.
'There are parts of our own country that have got a certain level of violence to it,'
There are parts of New York that have a certain level of violence. You cant stop people from being human.
'bush's war needs to be stopped.'
It is the United States war, the loss of which would be catastrophic for the USa and the Iraquis, as well as the world economy.
'impeach him. pull the funding bring the troops home. this is not a war for freedom, democracy or standing up to a threat to the world.'
Spare us your bumper sticker mentality.
unfortunately the democrats are playing the politics game at the cost of Iraqui and less importantly American occupiers lives.
They know that if they just hang on to this for another 19 months, winning the presidential ellection will be a walk over.
The children dying in their Iraqui beds and even the young armed american kids sent their by a tyrant deserve better than this.
Count the dead between now and the new democratic presidency and they are just as bad as bush and cheney for not using impeachment. The evidence for impeachment is staggering. He will go down in history beside hitler.
Iraq and september the eleventh 2001 have no connection even the enquiries have proved this. America is now the terrorist.
Yes, by lowering the senseless murder rate to pre Sadaam era numbers is a milestone; wherein, Iraqui's now have an Atmosphere to realistically determine their Destiny as a Lawful Government. Mission Acomplished! By capturing the figure head Sadaam who was a deteriment to Iraqui progress of evolving standards of decency our Mission was Acomplished.
Dealing with wanna be shot callers (foreign and domestic)that have crept out of the wood work to continue Sadaamism has been instructive. The level of stability we have managed to maintain by frankly identifying and removing those who would impede progress my well have reached a level where the Iraqui's with indirect Coalition assistance can achieve the credibility they will eventually have to earn.
As in all Human Advanacement endeavors, if you stay directly involved an hour too long or exit an hour early, the effort could be for naught.
Yes, we can take a few steps back; which, in effect would be a few steps forward. Make no mistake we are in a War on Terrorism on all fronts.
We will remain in the region as conditions dictate. It was four score and seven years for us to transition from a 'King' to taking a stand to preserve a Union.
The Union was more than a group of States; it was a Aspiriation that continues the evolve, that we are One Nation, One People under One G-d. This belief we have at our core and implement is foreign to those who suffer to this day under the 'King' (Dictator). These Terrorist who have introduced themselves to us have shown that they will stoop to any level. They have gotten the clear message; for a sureity, they will be identified and stopped any time in any place. Again, Mission Acomplished.
What I find absolutely paltry is the heated discussion about Bush’s intelligence. If he is as unintelligent has the democrats say he is, what does that say about their choice in candidates? Fact is we have a president that said he would find those responsible for 9/11 and continues to stand by his statement and not waver from that based on the surveys coming from the liberals.
Unfortunately, what America has continued to see is the lack of commitment and fortitude from the democrats. If they can’t get their way they cry foul. Here we are with their “new change” candidates saying one thing, “the war is wrong” when they originally voted for the war. Sounds like Kerry all over again.

9/11 as the catalyst that started the 'pre-emptive strike' policy. It began the 'axis of evil' jousting. Phrases like 'terrorists will not change our way of life' (try going through an airport or spilling flour on the way from the supermarket and ask the families of those dead brave soldiers) became as ludicrous as Bush himself. Following 9/11, the UN became a body to be obeyed but only when convenient to the US and a few of their allies. The war to remove non-existent WMDs was only made possible because of the propaganda of fear on the back of 9/11. Al Qaeda did not have a chance of taking hold in Iraq during the reign of Saddam Hussein because he was not the type to undermine his own power. American intervention against all reasonable warnings has changed all that. THE US LOST THE WAR THE DAY THEY ILLEGALLY ASSAILED IRAQ. Pride has always been US downfall. Pride has made the US as the only country to have used ALL kinds of WMDs. Yet, here's the irony, the US think they can use leaders to achieve their goals (they installed the Taliban and Saddam) but as we have seen it is they who are being manipulated.
'unfortunately the democrats are playing the politics game at the cost of Iraqui[sic] and less importantly American occupiers lives.'
Hey 'brian', you are a miserable, bigoted loser. I hope like hell you get yours soon you illiterate piece of crap.
'Iraq and september[sic] the eleventh 2001 have no connection even the enquiries[sic] have proved this.
We are fighting the same people who committed the 9/11 atrocity in Iraq, by their own admission you unbelievable fool.
'America is now the terrorist.'
You are an ignorant bastard who defends real terrorists on a daily basis. I wish I had you cornered you pussy.
Hey, weren't you on the Jerry Springer Show?
I hope that I am not once more naïve … but I cannot but salute President Bush for his vision, courage and determination…. As an Iraqi who once was not so convinced of the rationale of Iraq’s so called invasion, I can only now salute the president for his stand on Iraq.
We all agree that the sooner the US army leave Iraq the better. But this can only be done when Iraq can effectively govern itself. The stakes are high for Iraqis as much as for the region and the rest of the world.
to the american idiot who is afraid to use his own name.
Your neo-con war is lost. And the rest of the world is sick to death of you and yours. You cant even afford to buy freinds anymore.
A recent poll showed that you are the most hated race on earth. Hey I am proud to be Irish, Proud to be a socialist so realy and truely they wont upset me.
But do you know what Im most proud of.
That I piss off nazi terrorists like you.
Oh and by the way your connection between Iraq and 911 was only ever caused by america and was never their before you gullable twat.
When Washington D.C. was the murder capitol of the United States most affected were intercity poor black men often killed in drive-by shootings. It did'nt affect the politico's much accept as an embarresment. It seems most of the Iraqi war supporters are equally detached. It is my observation that both murder and poorly planned wars are a resault of a rush to judgement. Is there no shame?
Seems like the saner comments were made earlier in the day.
'brian
to the american[sic] idiot who is afraid to use his own name.'
Gee 'brian' whose wrist is so limp you can't even get the shift key down to capitalize it. It sure is courageous of you to post under your name... How many 'brians' are there out there?
'Your neo-con war is lost.'
Tell that to Saddam. Hope you see him soon you little bitch.
'and the rest of the world is sick to death of you and yours.'
You are a smug little turd from nowhere-ville, you are in no position to speak for 'the rest of the world' from your little crap hole.
'You cant even afford to buy freinds[sic] anymore.'
I could buy and sell you, of that you can be sure. Cheap.
'A recent poll showed that you are the most hated race on earth.'
That's great you disgusting racist little bigot. Any more fantasy polls? We do not need your approval you complete f-ing loser.
'Hey I am proud to be Irish,'
No wonder you identify with terrorists. Your terrorists lost too.
'Proud to be a socialist so realy[sic] and truely[sic] they wont upset me.'
Are you proud of being an absolute moron? Incapable of reasoning, working or rudimentary spelling?
'But do you know what Im[sic] most proud of.'
It certainly isn't your IQ.
'That I piss off nazi[sic] terrorists like you.'
LOL... The modern definition of a 'Nazi' is anyone who disagrees with an adolescent Trotskyite. You are the little clown who routinely sides with the modern day Nazis. As for pissing me off, knowing where you are going to end up as a result of your stupidity, rotten attitude, needy-ness, lack of common sense and your propensity to be lead around by your nose by your prejudices is enough to put a big grin on my face. You are headed right down the loser path.... Somewhere in that pimply little head of yours you know it is true. Your future is already done for... you heard it here 'brian'. Remember it.
'Oh and by the way your connection between Iraq and 911 was only ever caused by america[sic]'
That was the idea you idiot, you complete moron. To fight them there, not here. Now do you get it? Probably not.
Have fun with your wasted life of obscurity and frusteration in your irrelevant, 3rd world hole, 'brian'.
Bush has lowered his own standards; no mean feat when you're at minus-1.
Now there's violence in the U.S., and the trick is for Iraq to equal that??? Hey, we have actual police in the U.S., who don't align with one sect or the other.
Bush was stuck with the fact that a military 'victory' has been disavowed by his own Generals, who realize that the problem is political, rather than military. In a desperate attempt to divert back to a military solution, letting the failed Iraqi leadership off the hook, al Qaeda is now the declared problem, rather than the Shiite militia and native Sunni insurgency. The 'surge' was supposed to allow Iraq time for a political solution by reducing violence, at the expense of the lives of our own troops. That's not working, either, as we've spread our troops into smaller groups more widely spread, counting on the support of the Iraqi troops - and of course, thata's not working, either.
I think Bush is utterly irrational at this point, and the American people should not believe a word that he has to say. Bush cannot define 'victory', and instead lowers his standards, in hopes of a favorable comparison to the situation that he's actually dealing with. Meanwhile, the recent report on reconstruction indicates a total waste of U.S. taxpayer funds, and 2 million Iraqis have fled the country, and another 2 million are refugees within Iraq.
If this is 'success', I hope we never get to witness 'failure'.
''There are parts of our own country that have got a certain level of violence to it,' he told a Washington audience. 'But success is a level of violence where the people (in Iraq) feel comfortable about living their daily lives.''
What is incorrect about that statement?
Yet most people don't get past the title before they chyme in. 'Iraq 'success' possible without end to violence, Bush says'
And so the uninformed ranting goes on and on...
Where do we have 'a certain level of violence' comparable to Iraq???
We had one nut conduct a shooting of over 30 people, followed by days of news coverage! When did this become 'normal'???
Where do we have anything comparable to millions of refugees trying to escape violence? Katrina? That was nature at work, and Bush unable to deal with it.
Sheesh, the Bush nutcakes will excuse any idiotic utterance escaping his lips. That low IQ must be contagious.
