These ragheads took their tribal culture onto the world stage. It's time to teach then a lesson. Cut off their banking privileges, their shipping, their exports, landing rights at neighboring airports, imports, etc.

If you want to belong to the world community, there should be rules. It's time to send them some.

There are no credible rules in the current system. The only real attempt at international law was the U.N., and they have been declared 'irrelevant'.

Rules must be universal to be credible, and everyone knows that the superpowers only enforce/obey/recognize the rules which are beneficial to them.

For international law or democracy to really work, it would have to be backed by a truly objective and universalist enforcement authority, divorced (at least temporarily) from partisan nationalistic bias, with the rules codified and enforced universally, with all nations taking part in the development of these laws.

Untill that can be achieved, it remains a matter of might-makes-right, couched in this or that ideological sanctimony as diplomatic window-dressing.

Superpowers have responsibilities. All demented so called leaders, such as the brainless one in Iran, as well as North Korea and Venezuela, Cuba, etc, etc. should be destroyed in any manner whatsoever. So should all demented followers of these cave dwelling freaks. The superpowers have a super responsibility to the world to help the world to be free and safe. That is all.

Mohammed the illerate, financed his satan based religion by becomming a caravan pirate. It now appears that his crazy and very insane follower, i.e. the 'stoolie president' of iran, has elected to do the same. It thus appears that history is about to repeat itself. I wonder if he, like ole Mo likes to have sex with little six year old girls as well?? Apologize to this type of international priate???? The civilized people of Britian do not owe this pervert pirate any sort of apology - period. I only hope that this degenerate doesn't allow his insanity, along with the grand all-o-tolla to do something very stupid to the brave marines who, like their fellow British citizens, elected to do the civilized thing and not start WWIII.

I think the ignorance displayed by the first postee is shocking. I am not likely to check this site ever again so feel free to 'rip me apart' on this but does the honourable reader not see the obvious irony in referring to middle-eastern people (which is what I think he/she meant) as 'ragheads'? You are displaying the arrogance and ignorance of which you are accused, the irony is so perfect.
I am a 19 year old (white British) engineering student and I am not really that aware of global politics. I know enough to be able to say that I can side with the the Iranian president in as far as saying that our government is being arrogant on this issue. The sea borders are not well defined so we should accept that someone was just doing their job and as there has been no harm there is no foul.
Anyway, whatever happened to 'taking it on the chin'?
My conclusion- our government should apologise (for what it is worth).

The sailors all had GPS, so the location is known to be in Iraqi waters. Therefore, there should be no apology. This is a very slick move that Iran has done several times in the past. It is a reactionary move because they are surrounded on all borders by American and British troops.

What they are really trying to do one of two things. 1. convince their own people that they are strong and 2. Bait any Western power on their border into attacking first. Either is part of the current 'information' war. It is the same tactic Hezbollah used to goad Israel. As we recall, it worked very well for Hezbollah, even though Israeli forces destroyed much of the region. They know they don't have superior firepower, so they use superior propoganda.

Please stop using 'raghead' and 'cameljockey' comments. These comments help the Iranians win the propoganda war. You want to be racist? Fine. But if you want to win this conflict you need to wake up, keep it to yourself, and find a better way to counter their propoganda.

It is so disturbing to read through these comments posted by readers. How can an intelligent, educated and a professional person could call other people with such hatred. I begin to hate myself as Christian when I read comments of disgust from this side of the world.
This is the manifestation of the ill informed culture of us in the west that supports the notion of asking other countries to submit to us. May be we should just stick to our can of beer, wine, woman and Big Guns as the rest of the world is bombed, robbed and destroyed by our service people.
I wonder what our navy would do if they found an Iranian boat with 8 Iranian sailors in it. I bet know body would know about their whereabouts if they survived the first round of fire from our mighty military.

In claiming HMS Cornwall was within Iraqi territorial waters, the British government and the media have covered-up the fact there is no agreed upon Iraqi-Iranian maritime border, as other bizarre coincidences and dubious circumstances surrounding the hostage crisis begin to emerge.

Former British Ambassador Craig Murray and others are highlighting the fact that the maritime border between Iraq and Iran is contested, and the British have essentially manufactured a border to make it appear as if HMS Cornwall was within Iraqi territorial waters. The mainstream media has uniformly failed to address this issue.

'The Iran/Iraq maritime boundary shown on the British government map does not exist. It has been drawn up by the British Government. Only Iraq and Iran can agree their bilateral boundary, and they never have done this in the Gulf, only inside the Shatt because there it is the land border too. This published boundary is a fake with no legal force,' claims Murray.

'Accepting the British coordinates for the position of both HMS Cornwall and the incident, both were closer to Iranian land than Iraqi land. Go on, print out the map and measure it. Which underlines the point that the British produced border is not a reliable one.'

The BBC for instance has already interviewed a supposed expert regarding the map, who vouched for its authenticity. But the point is, as Craig Murray, points out, how can such a map exist if the subject of boundaries has never been settled between Iraq and Iran? Turns out the expert had been referred to the BBC by the British Ministry of Defense--who also turned out the plan.

Sounds like the rerun of a bad movie we've already seen.

The solution to this problem is that those 15 guys should work in iranian nuclear facility and help Iran speed up their nuclear work.If they do their work properly, they should be given iranian citizenship and naturalised. They have a right to live in iran. They look so happy in all the footage.

What he really is sayingApr 1st, 2007 - 04:19:08

Tehran - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke again Saturday about his government's hostage taking with London over over 15 British Navy personnel kidnapped by Tehran.

The remarks followed what where apparently his first words of semi honesty Friday on the March 23 incident.

On Friday, he said in a telephone interview that Britain, instead of apologizing to Iraq for having violated Iraqi waters, we unfortunatly had complicated the issue by creating a political and media ballyhoo.

London insists that the British patrol boat had been following UN mandates in Iraqi waters.

On Saturday, speaking in the town of Andimeshk in the southern Iranian province of Khuzestan, Ahmadinejad was quoted by the official news agency IRNA as saying, 'The British hostages had entered into our Iraqi waters and our Iraqi (Iraininan shhhh) border guards have arrested them illegaly. However, the arrogant powers in our govt mosque, realing on their arrogance and egoistic mentality, do not apologize to the Iraqi, or brittish, we are whinning about hmmmm, (the US)(and) rather act as if we are intellegent we hold hostages and want something.'
